You poor Smokers.

I have never smoked. Thank you. Thank you.   But I work in a business where people do and we sell cigarettes from a smoke machine. I was chatting to the vending machine guy the other day when he was over to fill the machine up.  He told me that the government gets ELEVEN DOLLARS from every packet sold, in the way of taxes, Bloody hell !  Aussie smokers are the hardest done by in the world. There is now a 20% black market in the cigarette trade. It is so profitable to bring in smokes from overseas by the container load.  So to all you smokers out there. Just think the next time you buy a pack. "There you go Government. Theres another $11:00 to top up your rediculous pension funds

I remember reading somewhere years ago that if every smoker in Australia quit then EVERYONE would have to pay lan extra $20 a week in income tax to make up the short fall in revenue.

I have done my part in this, I haven't had a cigarette in nearly 18 months.

The funny part is, those taxes go to the health system to help those who suffer smoke-related diseases etc... its a big friggin joke. Personally, I think its the most disgusting habit a human can have, along with picking one's nose and eating it.

I've cut back a bit by halving my intake so down to 20 a day.
Here smokers are the modern day lepers... We are scum blah blah blah.
The Govt have a target of making NZ smoke free by 2020 (I wonder if they will ban harleys:) ) 

Not out to justify what I do either way but any one of a thousand things are going to kill me!
Don't drink, don't do drugs and have laid off the hard woman.... So its more than likely the sudden stop after a fall will

Gave that shit up 10 years ago. Funny how the Government is not liable for smoking deaths, considering they are accepting money from it.

Well done Paul and to anyone else out there that has kicked the habit.  Obviously in the future NO one will smoke.  You don't see anyone with a fag in their mouth on STAR TREK.  

To be fair though, you probably need to have the salary of a Star Ship Captain to afford it...
