Wanted - 1250 Headlight Assembly
I'm thinking of installing HID projectors into the headlight to stop the light spill the "standard" H7 HID's produce that seems to be dazzling on coming traffic. To do so I need to pull the lens of the headlight body. Being as clumsy as I tend to be, I'd like to do this on a spare assembly so if (when ?) it goes wrong, I won't be off the road too long.
Anyone got one (cheap) ?

*Balanced TB's. My TPS was fine, but you should check yours.
*Arrow race headers with Yoshimura TRS.
*PC3 with the supplied map and these mod got 123hp with 115nm of torque.

Yes, have been looking at the same company, Retrofit. I was thinking of fitting their 35w 4300K D2S's in the Mini Morimoto Projectors, I don't think 55w are needed, but it's pretty easy to upgrade later once the projectors are in the housing. Two projectors are only US$110 plus delivery, a complete kit that also includes ballast and globes is US$295. Retrofit seem to be the gun HID experts and I agree about their site, I think I've learnt more about HID's from them than anywhere else, I have 3 sets ready to go into the car (fog, hi & lo) - but from what I have gathered these will be staying put on the garage shelf until I sort out some projectors.
One thing I liked about the Bi-Xenon systems, it gets away from the delay that occurs when switch from lo to hi, as the bulbs are on all the time with a small metal shield controlled by a solinoid that blocks the upper portion of the light beam when on lo beam.
I've tracked down one headlight in Melbourne, however they said it has a sratched lens. I might get back to them to see what they want for it, unfortunately the lens is not a seperate item.
Alpha Sports in the US are asking US$331 (Part # 35100-38G01-999), but I think shipping might put it out of reach. I haven't ventured to ask Suzuki themselves.

Re: Wanted - 1250 Headlight Assembly
This was the cheapest one I found. $346.
I was thinking of Mini Morimoto Bi-xenon for it's Hi-Low in the low beam spot in the headlight for the reason. (no time delay in between Hi-Low). But going a bigger projector for Hi beam only.
With fully blacked out reflector and probably Led Halo to replace the parker light function.
The only thing stopping me, is I can't find a cheap headlight.

Re: Wanted - 1250 Headlight Assembly
I`ve bought a fair bit of stuff from them over the years, and have bought the FX-R 3.0 bi-xenon`s for the same purpose for my GEN 2( so can`t help you out with a housing), I`ve over the years gathered 4 light assemblies for my GEN 2
I don`t know if I like the FX-R`s or not!
I have modified the original projector light in the gen2,and I feel, it gives a far better light throw than the FX-R`s, which they consider to be one of their best lights, with the upgrade 3 inch lens.
I haven`t put them into the housing yet but put them side by side in an open paddock, and low beam isn`t as good and high beam isn`t as good, once again I say I have modified the originals, but in saying that, I will be replacing both lights with bi-xenon, and not just having the configuration of one high and one low beam as the gen 2 is.

Re: Wanted - 1250 Headlight Assembly
Just bought a used 1250 headlight from Show & Go Motorcycles for $200 delivered, best price I've seen in over 12 months of looking. Now to see if it will fit in the oven to soften the glue so as to open it up to fit the HID projector housings.
Got it through eBay, they are from Adelaide, they might have a shop. There are a couple of other 1250 parts listed including full bikini fairing ($165) and the rear ducktail plastic ($110).

Looking for a solvent/adhesive?
The workshop guys used chloroform as a solvent for Perspex when I worked at a university many years ago.
I think it was also used as an adhesive as it allowed for very neat joints between parts.
I don't know how it would work on the headlight plastic but just may be an option to consider.

We used Chloroform as an adhesive in high school. It works on plastic by melting the two parts together..BanditDave wrote:Looking for a solvent/adhesive?

I wouldn't recommend it on a headlight

Re: Wanted - 1250 Headlight Assembly
i used to use chloroform and perspex mixed together as a glue. Once the chloroform evaporates you are left with a very strong bond. We used it in our Histology museum to make display casings for some of our more unusual specimens for display. The natural history museum in the UK uses the same technique and they have their specimens under bright lights all day. It will last for years and is totally watertight if done correctly.
all you do is dissolve the perspex into the chloroform and store in an air tight container. then brush it onto what ever you are trying to seal when you need it.

you don`t want a permanent bond here! you want a "non curing sealant" ,like butyl!

Hi T - yours naked 2011 1250 has a different headlight to my 2007 1250S, there is no focus ring used on this model.Tsim wrote:If you are putting a projector in, I will buy the focusing ring of you
Lo beam uses a molded shield to stop the upper portion of the beam from the top H7 bulb, that is the only "internal" part of this headlight.
