My intro to the forum
G’day to you all. Only joined up recently although I admit
to spending some time reading up on different areas of the forum to see if
there were any ongoing problems that might deter me from taking the plunge.
Didn’t see anything serious so now I have a blue GSX1250FA. Only managed to
knock up a 200km ride so far but once the painting & decorating is out of
the way I’ll get more familiar with it. The only fault I found on that ride was
the seat. I think I’ve got a bit of wood in the shed that with a bit of shaping
would be more comfortable
As you see from my avatar I’m an old boy, nice picture of me
too. Started back on bikes back in the mid 80’s after the usual break getting
married & bringing up kids. I‘ve never been that great at keeping a bike for
long, the grass always looked greener on the other side, so over the years,
after a quick mental tally, I’ve had 6 Hondas, 4 Kwakas, 3 Yamahas, 2 Beemers,1
Triumph and 1 Ducati, so you’ll see from that list that this is my first Suzuki.
You’ll also understand why I’m not rich! This will be my last bike, I’m sure of
that and I’m also sure I’ll be happy with it, after I get the seat sorted.
There are a few add ons which I may add to down the track but only practical
items. I generally do all my own maintenance so I’ve no doubt I’ll be taking
advantage of the wealth of knowledge the forum holds & I look forward to ‘chatting’
with some of you guys along the way.
No pics at the moment, I’m really flat out with other things
but I’ll get around to it in due course & when I've learned how to do it. You all know what a blue GSX1250FA
looks like anyway I’m sure. I’ll probably make a few stuff ups along the way, I’m
new to forums, so be gentle with me. Cheers for now.

Great intro OF. Welcome aboard the good ship SBA. You have come to the right place. Great bunch of guys n gals with lots of good advice.I'm sure you will see what a really good bike the Bandit is. Look around for a good seat upholsterer to replace the foam in the front section. That should do the job. Enjoy.

Re: My intro to the forum
Welcome aboard OldFella. Yep, Suzuki didn't rate "comfort" too highly as a design criteria when the were doing the seat. But, like most things, it can be fixed in a number of ways (replace, reupholster, airhawk, seatcover, etc). Looking forward to your chats.

Re: My intro to the forum
Welcome aboard.
My comment regarding the seat is I bet its not the worst you've had
Yes it can be fixed but you might get used to it.
The bike is built to a price in all areas but its better than the sum of its parts.

Welcome to the forum oldfella
The easiest way to fix the seat is to add an Airhawk.
However you might prefer to get it re-foamed and Australian Comfy Motorcycle Seats http://www.acmseats.com.au/ can help you there. They deliver Australia wide.
Or you might prefer a Corbin or Sargent Seat
Here is a pic of a Sargent seat on my GSX
And something else you might like to consider http://www.beowulfuk.com/proddetail.asp?prod=S035

Yip. Good advice MM. A radiator guard should be the very first ad.

Well, it's good to see a few more members that are more experienced in life (not old) and the only difference between the young ones and us is we have more and get more aches and pains.

My intro to the forum
Thanks for the welcome guys, I’m really surprised to have so
many replies. I hope you don’t mind if I give a general reply that should cover
all your questions & comments. I’ll learn the right way to do it as I go.
I’ll add to my profile in a minute but as to where I’m from,
I’m now in Western Australia.
Re the seat, I’m sorry to say this one is definitely the
worst. I ‘ve had an Air Hawk for a few
years but didn’t have it on the bike for the ride. Big mistake & that’ll be
the first thing I try next ride. I’ve thought about getting the foam replaced
& have seen the AMC website, so I guess that would be next step with the
Sargent/Corbin seat as the last resort since I think they’re over $600. Look
good though.
Couldn’t agree more about the radiator protection. The Beowulf
looks nice but I already have a Radguard in the mail.
Finally there’s a saying that you’re only as old as you feel
and when you stop feeling, you’re old
Thanks again guys, really impressed & look forward to
more.

Re: My intro to the forum
Welcome to the forum. Glad to hear you are liking the Bandit apart from the seat. I waited nearly 5 years before buying a secondhand Sargent from a forum member. What a change. I should have got one of them years ago as the air hawk helps, but the front of the seat is narrow and the air hawk helps little as that's where most your weight is on the stock seat. If I see you around the traps you are welcome to sit on my bike and see what you think. I still use the air hawk on it though as it aids the comfort factor

Re: My intro to the forum
Welcome Old Fella!
I'm sure you will enjoy the bike.
I got a Radguard & after I installed it, I had a VERY annoying rattle.
The mesh was rattling in the frame. I rang them up & let them know, & they agreed that there was a problem. I was told they were going to add a couple of tack welds in strategic places to "FIX" it, so I hope you get one that doesn't rattle.
I squirted some silicone into the frame of mine, which has fixed it. For my troubles, they sent me a couple of Stubbie holders & Caps.
HAVE FUN!!

Welcome Oldfella. A friendlier bunch you'd be hard pressed to find. I got a blue FA as well. Agree, the seat's crap but the rest is great.

Re: My intro to the forum
I must have got one of the "improved" rad-gards then. Fitted about a month ago. A breeze to fit and no rattle or buzz at all. Silicon fixes up most of those things, when they occur.
