I have one of these. hit a seagull at 60 the other day fair and square (the stupid bird was flying in the same direction so actual speed may have been lower. No marks (that didn't wash off) and no damage
easy to fit to your bike and don't seam to stop that much light either.

I have one from AMHP. It works and doesn't come off at speed.

Re: Headlight protector
Aren't the lights plastic anyway? Since car headlights did away with glass lenses I could never see the point of protectors as the main body of the light will usually break before the lens does in an impact. Trust me, I'm a panelbeater!

Re: Headlight protector
yeah they are plastic, if i was to get one it would be to protect the headlight lens from scrathes etc which seem to be impossible to polish out

That would look good. Even better if you get a tinted screen as well

Re: Headlight protector
The plastic used in the headlight is VERY tough, I'm told you can hit them with a hammer (firm, not a full bodied swing!) and they won't break?
Personal choice? waste of money?

What can I say, I've got a thing about black faces....
The screen and headlight protector are Skidmarx (UK) from Carl at bikemonkey.com.au
$200 delivered for the pair.
Re: Headlight protector
Thats the first sidecar i've seen on a bandit, looks cool.
whats it like to ride, is it hard on tyres?
hows the Skidmarx held on, is it a good close fit?
some of the AMHP look like don't fit the best.
side on photo's of the 2 would help. PLEASE

O yeh! I recon that works, looks like a quality setup!
What tint color is that?
Had a look at bikemonkey site, not too much listed for the 1250's

Carl is the importer for Skidmarx in Australia, so if you see anything on the UK site he can bring it in. I think his details are on his site.
Tint color is black, I was a little concerned as they do have a solid black unit but Carl made sure the right one was ordered.
Cheers

Re: Headlight protector
Rig was built by Sean at Premier Sidecars in Bathurst - really good work, Leading Link front end with relocated brakes calipers, steering damper, changed rear wheel to a standard car type, he knows his stuff. The sidecar and bike were painted together to match the colours.
The Bandit was originally his brothers, they were doing it up as their shop show piece, we fell in love with it before it was even finished. It is featured on his sites: http://www.premiersidecars.com.au/sidecar-bodies/sport-touring.html here also his projects (all types of bikes and differnet version sidecars) along with a series of pictures of the Bandit/Premier build - http://www.srkengineering.com.au/sidecars/sidecar-projects-suzuki.html
Having a big torquey motor like the Bandit means the rig is easy to pull along, probably won't make any records at Eastern Creek but each to their own.
Cheers

Re: Headlight protector
I also have a very similar tinted protector. The good thing about the GSX1250FA, the headlight size and shape is the same as my old GSX650FU. I made the mistake of using the tinted protector when riding home late, it does cut down the light output a bit. I'll have to make sometime this weekend and put it back on. It works well with the tinted MRA touring screen.
