Anyone bought one of these Aussie made headlight protectors - I saw them advertised in Road Rider magazine? $50 doesn't seem too expensive for 3mm acrylic.

I have a mate in Melbourne who has one fitted and is happy with the product.
For $50 I don't. Know why we don't all have them Wink

Ventura also do one for around $45-$50. I have broken one in half but the headlight survived. Well worth the money I reckon as I am sure a replacement is pretty expensive.

Have 2 sitting in my shed ATM. One for the bandit and one for a ER6F
Hit a seagull with it on at ~60kph and no break the protector. A few months later hit a seagull at about the same speed and at about the same spot but on the GSX650F that wasn't fitted with a protector and no break the light so not really sure if it's worth the effort of getting one but at $50 it certainly doesn't hurt

My hit was gravel stones from my mates ZX14. We were clipping along at lose your license speeds and the front of the bike got peppered with rocks. The Ventura snapped in half and the headlight was okay. The fairing on the other hand had many rock strikes, chipped paint and gouges.

I went with the clear acrylic - not certain a standard Bandit headlight could penetrate a coloured one!!

Even with brighter bulb, the dark tinted protector does reduce the headlights brightness. Found out riding back from a CR Marulan ride day. Does look good with the dark tint MRA screen though.
