Paddock Stands.
The only little grip about Jans new ride, 650 Gladius, is that they do not have a center stand. So We are now in the market for one. Or two. I have mulled over the idea of removing the center stand off Rosie and getting a paddock stand for chain lubeing nd adjustment, so the arrival of the Gladius has kind of rekindled the thought. What should we look for in a stand ? Which is better out of the spool type or the swingarm lift type ? And what about a front one ? Which works best ? Cheers.

Got the same, and it comes with both L brackets for swing arm and another set of brackets for spools. Breaks down for flatter storage, I'm thinking of getting a second for getting both wheels of the ground for cleaning/maint.

I have a Sharp Racing spool lifter and a Kaneg front stand.
They are the same colour red and one was twice the price as the other but the quality was the same (good)
If you can fit spools use that type and go the Kaneg.

My wife bought a sv650s, it also doesn't have a center stand. We bought one of those cheap Aldi things. Seems to work fine on the SV.
However, the center stand on the Bandit snapped the other day and I though I'd use the Aldi stand to hold the bandit up, FAIL. Thankfully I caught it before it fall over.
Oh, it's $200 for a new center stand for a Gen2 Bandit, but there aren't any in Oz.
I like having the center stand, means you can do chain maintenance and the like any where, particularly useful when touring.

Re: Paddock Stands.
I just took delivery of a different brand (because I forgot to search here first ). But it works a treat on the TRX. But being a paddock stand virgin, I have a question: Is the rear stand a two person operation, ie one holding the bike upright whilst the other bungs in the stand, or are you supposed to be able to do that by yourself?

I used one on my hyosung GV650 and I wasn't confident using it at all by myself even on that light weight bikeEwok1958 wrote:I just took delivery of a different brand (because I forgot to search here first ). I'm sure plenty of people do it on their own, but I wouldn't want to with the Bandit. I actually find it reasonably hard to lift the rear even with someone holding the bike up - but I am only a 60kg lightweight.

I got the kaneg rear stand with the castor wheels. One the bike is up on the stand you can whee it around anywhere you like. It means you can put the bike out of the way without a heap of messing around.

I fitted a swivel castor to the handle end of mine, makes it really easy to move the bike around the shed and out of the way.

Has anybody bought one of the PITLANESUPPLIES paddock stands off Ebay. They look really good and only $66 to the door?? I am about to buy one I think, unless I can help someone out who has one surplus to their needs.

I have a Kaneg front stand and a Sharp Racing rear stand. Nothing wrong with the Kaneg at half the price.
Re: Paddock Stands.
I called in at Cooma Aldi about two weeks ago and, behold, paddock stands in stock. They looked ok to me and I rang James Coleman to see if he knew anyone who wanted one - $40.Jimmy the Boy wrote:I went to look at the Aldi set but they were sold out of course.
