Post  Primax Wed 09 Dec 2020, 9:24 pm

I have had a scan on the net regarding running in period for the newly aquired bandit, it's done 1865km. Couldn't find anything relavent, so I'll ask the wise here, what's the factory specs for running in. Thanks,Dave.

In a former work life we used to drive small trucks up a 4 km fairly steep hill in a gear lower than you'd normally do it in, it used to load the engine right up to bed in rings etc.

In over 100 trucks over a 5 year period, 1 had a big end bearing failure which most of us believed was unrelated to the run in drive  we never had one come back later smoky

I got told by my dealer
1 ride it as normal (define normal scratch )
2 don't over rev it
3 vary the engine speed as much as possible

1st 1000ks, so yours should have been done by now.

Thanks guys, all the engines that I rebuilt were run in the same as the suggestions/recommendations i.e. not overloaded or over reved but yeah I think at 1800 odd km, it should be well bedded.

Just don't "uderload" it
Taking it too gentle could cause glazing

(I'm taking load, not revs, you don't need excessive revs to load an engine)
