Post  Re-Cycled Sun 13 May 2012, 8:28 pm

I was looking for a tool so members could map their location, if they wanted to, I thought it would be interesting to see where everyone is.

Google maps would allow it but it looks like I would have to add everyone's email address to a "collaborators" list to allow them to update their own location.

I found this free tool but I'm disappointed with the resolution: http://pub8.bravenet.com/guestmap/view.php?usernum=664013890

What do you guys think? Do you know of a better way?

Ok don't use that, use Chris' Google Map here: http://g.co/maps/vb84k

I've had a play with Google maps and made an open collaberation NSW Bandits map only to find others will need to have a gmail/google account and be signed in to edit the map. Thats fine for us who have an account and sorry for the members who dont or dont want a Google acc.

If anyone wants to have a fiddle its here http://g.co/maps/vb84k Click on the edit button to place your marker.

No, the idea was for a graphical representation so you could see the distribution of members and zoom in for details.
I'm pleased though that you are advocating full use of profile fields, something I have wanted for a while. Very Happy

Thanks 'wheels' that was what I was after , I must have missed the "open" option or misunderstood it. Anyway I've updated mine.

Why wouldn't you want a gmail account? The best freebie IMHO way better than the service I pay for with my ISP. Wink
