Engine not reving clean beyond 6000rpm Empty Engine not reving clean beyond 6000rpm

Post  Miko Rockhampton Tue 08 May 2012, 10:54 pm

I have just purchased a 2010 GSF 1250 S with 13000klms on the clock on the 27/04/12. Had a test ride in wet conditions and rode back 800klms back home and never needed to rev the motor beyond 5000rpm.I have discovered since then the motor breaks down badly beyond 6000rpm and will not even come close to redline. I contacted the dealer and was sent new plugs and they were fitted by a Suzuki dealer with no success. Has any one experianced similar problems or suggest a fix?

It'd be a better idea if we could do something similar to the vStrom guys and just run an external filter. The brass filter is hopeless, not that I've had a problem with mine YET

The FZ has an external filter too. Its just another cheap Suzuki design.

Thank you for the advice gentlemen,it was the fuel pump that was the root of the problem. Suprising for a bike with only 13,000klms ,thankfully my bike had still some new bike warranty left and Suzuki are paying for a new one.Once again thanks

See if you can get the old pump .If its just a blocked strainer you will have a spare .
