What length slip-on
G'day, what length aftermarket slip-on mufflers have you lot been putting on? I have a choice of 350mm or 450mm. Does that mean the shorter one would be louder? It's a Delkevic I'm going for, (round, stainless).
Cheers, Steve

Re: What length slip-on
I shortened my 420mm Yoshi by 50mm and it got louder.

*Arrow race headers with Yoshimura TRS.
*PC3 with the supplied map and these mod got 123hp with 115nm of torque.
*Neville Lush Racing custom tune = 130hp with 125nm at the Tyre (Standard 98hp/108nm).

380mm CF oval Beowulf here. I would have gone 350mm if it was available.

So your pipe's aren't too loud? I.E, obnoctious to you're neighbours etc?
I,ve had the messuring tape out, & find that the 350mm can ends inline with the axle nut, & the 450mm can ends inline with the trailing edge of the rear brake disc, (that's not taking into account the last bit of tail pipe at the rear of the can). In this case, would the 350mm can look better?

That would depend on how the link pipe as bent and the mounting system.Kiwisteve wrote:So your pipe's aren't too loud? I.E, obnoctious to you're neighbours etc?

My preference is for short cans. That's just me but its the main reason I don't like Staintune's. Too long and skinny for me.

I love the tone (without baffle) and the workmanship of the Staintunes, TW. Try to go somewhere like a large bike store that has a range of cans to look at. Even ask if you can take them outside and hold them up against your bike. The only difference will be sound and looks. Power is not affected by the length.

Re: What length slip-on
At one stage I was considering a Delkevic can and could not decide on c/f and length. I sent the supplier on the gold Coast an e-mail to check if I could visit their warehouse and have a check against the bike. They agreed to let me visit. Unfortunately, I did not go ahead with the change of exhaust. If you are within riding distance I suggest you contact them by e-mail and arrange a visit.

Thanks Aussie, I used to live up on the Goldy about 5 mins ride from where they are now. But I don't venture quite that far on the bike, as every time I go back up there I have my family with me.

Gus wears a slip. Well I hope he does when he wears his dress. So he can tell you how long for your slip.

Re: What length slip-on
I got the 450mm Delkevic. It's a good length and balances the look of the bike. I think the 350mm is a bit short IMO. The 450mm is probably a whisper quieter too.

Re: What length slip-on
I pulled the lead weight off the bike today, anyone know how much they weigh? ( too heavy for my kitchen scales). The new Delkevic weighs in at 3.4kg for the 450mm one, ( incl link pipe & muffler bracket/strap). Was a bit of mucking to get it on without the centre stand stopper hitting the swingarm, but got it sorted in the end. Sounds goood
Oh, I've left the baffle out of it too

13kg Inc link pipe on a GSF1250. GSX have a different muffler but probably about the same weight.
