I'm heading off in a couple of weeks (with my 14yo daughter as pillion) to vist a mate in QLD, I was wondering if any of you live near or have travelled the following roads since the recent floods and know their condition

Newell Hwy Dubbo to Gilgandera
Castlereigh Hwy Gilgandera to St George

Gregory & Peak Downs Hwys Clermont to Moranbah (and later to MacKay)
if anyone has any info it would be much appreciated, I'll put up the return trip later

Re: Road Conditions, Vic, NSW & QLD
I found that, and similar ones for QLD and Vic, I was more thinking of local or recent knowledge regarding road surface etc

haha, with only 2 weeks to go I'm starting to really hang out for it, it's my first long road trip (on a bike) for quite a few years, I offered the rear seat to the missus, she didn't want to go, neither did my 17yo son, my daughter is more excited than I am, she's had 3 months of "training the bum" runs and is keen as.
1st night we're staying at Hay, the next Coonamble, then Injune, then it's 6 nights with a mate in Moranbah. On the way home 1 night in Gayndah, 2 with a mate in Brisbane (the bikes already booked in for it's 6000km service and a loan bike has been arranged for the morning, then it's off to Scone for a night, then Young via a lap or 2 of Mt Panorama, the last night will be in Logan (Vic) before getting back to Adelaide the next day

Anywhere emerald to mackay has been hit hard and the road conditions can get bad in places. Take it steady and watch out for pot holes and the miners changing shifts. Sometimes they can be crazy in a hurry and or fatigued .
Good luck and enjoy the trip.

Expect the unexpected
The "beef road" from Coppabella to Dingo can get a little greasy with light rain.
Also large potholes can catch you by surprise
I would not travel these roads in the dark unless absolutely compelled to (lots of kangaroos).
Other than that, enjoy the ride.

road conditions vic,nsw,qld
I live in Coonamble and the roads from Dubbo to Coonamble are generally pretty good.I travel that road on a regular basis solo and two up no real bad sections. Speed limit is 110 all the way but the Hwy Patrol is very active so stick to the limit. From Coonamble to the border via Walgett is badly flood damaged in places so take care.If you are staying in Coonamble onite give me a yell and we could meet up for a quiet drink and a yarn. Good luck on your trip.

Re: Road Conditions, Vic, NSW & QLD
We had a great pretty uneventful trip up, caught up with rjs, his wife and daughter in Coonamble for tea Monday night, the roads wern't too bad so long as you concentrated and looked for damage, I think I'd rather travel by bike than car on the most damaged, at least you get the chance yo pick a smooth line
