A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
First topic message reminder :
Folks,
I notice that it is about 2,000 - 2,100 kms from Adelaide to Brisbane (or Brisbane to Adelaide - take your pick). So what you might ask? Well, it offers an opportunity for many of us forum members to meet up somewhere roughly in the middle (don't ask me exactly where - I'm making this up as I go) - but it would have to be roughly half way. I know any kind of ride like this wouldn't suit the sandgropers, NT, NZ, USA, Italy, Greece, Sweden, etc members but that's just a fact of life with a country the size of Europe. I'm not talking about this year but what if we decided to have a big Bandit forum get together somewhere in the Spring/Summer of 2013? That should give enough advance notice for the wheels to be put in motion, surely. I'm quite happy to organise it.
Update (7Mar13):
Details are:
Date: 1 - 3 November 2013 (ie Friday nigtht & Saturday night for those wanting a two night stay)
Place: Cowra
Accommodation options: Option 1 - The Imperial Hotel (02 634102588) (prices start at $65 for a single room but are as low as $115 for an ensuite room with 1 dbl and 2 sgl beds). There are also ensuite rooms for two at $100 per room (1 dble, 1 sgl). Option 2 the Sovereign Inn (02 6342 1055) (price is $69 per person twin share or $127 for a single). It is directly opposite the Imperial across Kendal St - both look good. Book individually. Special group price will apply to all, irrespective of individual bookings.
Plans: Individuals organise their own rides to and from (with other members or solo, as preferred). Groups meet up at accommodation. Day trip to Bathurst for those interested on Saturday for a few laps of the circuit. Counter lunch in Bathurst. Pub meal in Cowra Sat night. Departure Sunday AM.

Re: A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
I’m probably a non starter for this gathering as much as I was wanting to go.
I haven’t said anything but I’m carrying an injury that is keeping me off the bikes or limiting me to 30 mins on the bandit and about an hour on the FZ1. I know we're talking months away but I'm not able to rest it for a while so it's not about to improve in a hurry.
I’ll be trying to make Jim Coleman’s Vic Alps ride but that will be 800km in 2 days and a big ask the way I’m feeling at the moment.
Feel free to sent me a post card

Thanks mate.
I can’t say exactly when I injured it but it probably did start on the show and it probably was doing Commando's tiger crawls holding Big Bertha (heavy rope) and I haven’t been able to rest it since.
When I get the chance I’ll have it seen to.

Hey Ewok I was also thinking about visiting one of my ancestral hawnts, Canowindra. It's said my great uncle Frank and his mate Ben held up the town during a flood, locked up the local copper and through a party in the Pub for all of those stuck in town by the floods. 40klms from Cowra.

Go for it. Saturday is basically a fill-in day for those who arrive early or arrive Friday night. I knew there would be some interest in a blast up to Bathurst but everyone is free to do whatever they like for the day - might add to the stories told Sat night over some sherberts.

Re: A Bandit Forum Get Together - Stage 1
All good. My brother and I did a ride to Blaney about a month ago. When we did a lap of the track at Bathurst, our group of about 15 riders had an armed escort around the track. While it was gratifying to be threaded like royalty, it was not appreciated. So you can expect the same. They literally came from nowhere. We excessed the speed limit rolling down the cutting under brakes. So be very carefully with that. Also Bathurst to Carcor very Officer prone.

My mate John is a starter at this stage. He plans to get his earth moving rear serviced at that time to take the break. He rides a Bonny California, so it will give us someone to pock fun at going around the mountain. Cant wait.

For the guys staying Friday and Saturday night the road to Sofala isn't a bad run for Saturday or you could carry on to Rylstone for lunch, just a suggestion.
http://goo.gl/maps/SLTXB
Of course if you go to Denman for lunch you get to do Bylong Valley Way twice!

Got my floaties patched up for the tug boat over the pond. Will be leaving Port Melbourne Thu morning, going via Chris's place in Sale for morno's then up to Canberra for the night. Leave Canberra sometime Friday for Cowra - booked into the Crest for Fri & Sat($110 a night).
Want to try to get some work done on the bike by Sean in Bathurst Sun/Mon (will try again to fit the Dragway 15" front wheel), before heading down the Olympic Way/Hume to get the return ferry on Tue evening.
Looks like it will be somewhere in excess of 2000kms depending on how many times we go to Bathurst and back, might pack the Airhawk just in case. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

A sterling effort Barry - we should have a prize of a shout each for the person who travels the furthest.

I recon Macleay Island would give it a good shake.( I won't even count the barge trip to the mainland). Good thing the Bandits have duel trip meters. Will be Fan-Bloody-Tastic.

So does that mean the person who travels the furthest has to shout each to everyone else?

Should be a great shindig.
Our little barge puts another 900km on the trip (8hrs each way), but hopefully I'll be asleep most of that time.

You can't count that 900ks if your Bandits wheels ain't turning.

Yep - already subtracted the ferry trip...that's why I said 2000 not 2900kms ....
But because I have three wheels does that mean I can add a third more on the distance

No ! You have to subtract a third because you are cheating ! Plus by then you will probably have to wear TWO helmets. So that will be another penalty.barry_mcki wrote:Hammy wrote:
