And so it begins - The Accessories

Post  Rustic on Sun 29 Jan 2012, 3:09 pm

Apart from the tank and gas ring protector, and fenda extenda, I've fitted a Pyramid rear hugger.

I have a Scott Oiler, Stebel Nautilus, and a host of other accessories on their way. I''ll be sure to update and upload pictures as I add to her.

Just to test out the hugger I went for a substantial ride up and over the Rimutakas which gave me a good chance to narrow the chicken strips a little more. This picture was taken at the summit. I'll be glad when the Rad Guard arrives as there was a bit of gravel from the road works they are doing on the Southern side..

Just another picture along the way - Self description really...

Nice one Rustic. I like the look of the hugger. Does it help to keep the muck off of the undertail ?

None of my previous bikes have ever had a hugger. I would always find myself puzzling how to clean in and around the rear suspension and other places that were a right pain in the arse to get too.

Hammy, all of the riders I've spoken too and bits I read report that without a doubt a hugger keeps your underside a hell of a lot cleaner. After today's ride I must admit there was less crap interestingly on close inspection under the new hugger I spied a bit of road tar and stones stuck to it.

On the aesthetic side I think it looks very sexy. Suzkuzi NZ retail an OEM Hugger for $599, in any colour. I got mine (Pyramid Plastics) from Colemans Suzuki in Auckland for $280 including freight. What pissed me off the most was the Dealer I purchased the bike from did not look after me. They were not even able to source a fenda extenda. That is another story though (about Dealers)...

Like the look of that Pyramid rear hugger Rustic !

Had a CF hugger on my last bike & I reckon they help keep alot of crud off the shock & the inside of the rear guard.

Hammy, just wondering if you could share where you sourced hugger $140 delivered from the UK ?

Cheers,
Bucky

Yep, those Red Fox huggers are the ducks guts. I have a carbon looking one and I reckon it does a great job of keeping the crap out of the underside and rear suspension. Even after a messy ride through the Snowies, the rear looks clean and clear.

Installing the Vario Touring Screen on the GSX1250FA

Post  Rustic on Fri 17 Feb 2012, 6:08 pm

Evening All,

Well the instructions stated 30 minutes to install. Yeah right!!! Two hours later after a cup of tea and a few expletives I was done. During the reassemble a black rubber expanding nut shot out from my fingers (3 times) and hid in a different location each time....

I've tried to do a step by step but have trimmed some pictures back. I've bugger the sequence up but you'll get the idea.

I also installed the Rad Guard which only took 15 minutes.

Its hard to see the great effect of the smoke screen but will take some pictures when out and about with better lighting.
