In days of old question .
my Dad was into bikes but it was before I was born ( did talk about them though ).My mates were into bikes though/ plus the sound of the old british bikes as they thundered past when I was young was enough to get me hooked . I guess I always knew I was going to ride bikes & not riding was never an option .

Re: In days of old question .
My Dad when he came out here from yorkshire early 50s as a 10 pound Pom bought small Triumph.
My Mum rode scooters. My Grandad on my Mums side rode bikes during the war and after. After he used to ride ex-police hotted up Harley.
When I was 16 and working my first job my parents said buy a bike its cheap transport. 14 bikes later and 30 odd years it sure is not cheap but ever so much fun.

Nup - Dad hated bikes. Mum had a few go's on friends bikes as a teenager. Grandad fell off a BSA twice - of which he only rode twice !! I reckon I got the bug from mates who had em. Just loved the whole concept of a motor in a frame, and the freedom it brings.

Re: In days of old question .
Dad had bikes (BSA Goldstar was his last one) in the late 40's and early 50's. Then he married mum, and she hated bikes, so he sold it.
My dad told me and my siblings that we could get a bike over his dead body. Which we (well me and my sister) did. Dad died in 1995, I got my bike licence in 1996 and my sister (at the time married to a rider) got her licence in 2000.
I know that, not so secretly, he always wanted to get another bike. Any chance he got, when mum wasn't around, he'd scam rides on mates bikes.
