Have I Sinned?
First topic message reminder :
I picked up the B1250 this morning.
Starting like a new one but I promptly rode to the Yamaha shop and priced a FZ1s.
I used to trust Suzuki. Had many bikes with S on the tank but would be comfortable going back to Yamaha after 21 years.
Anyway change over was more than I plannef so will need to think about it.
Not riden the FZ1 does anyone here have an opinion on the newer ones?

Cool is that 250+km? Sat on a FZ8N today. Felt good and very well finished. I don't want it but was probably a good start.

Chris, fuckit, sometimes you just have to do it and not let the detail rule, we're here for a good time, not a long time. I cant wait to add something to keep the CBX and FA company... now for the business case to the CEO & minister of finance....

Bejeezuz – haven’t checked the forum in a while and look what I missed out on! Busted starter motors, Kewwig hurts himself and his Bandit, and Paul has got some great life stories from those willing to share!
Mmmm, an FZ1! That was on my list before the Bandit came along. Go for it Chris, like the others have said….you only live once!
Oh, and thanks to Re-Cycled – Ive managed to damage my computer screen trying unsuccessfully to swat that bloody bug crawling around!

Re: Have I Sinned?
Well, a while ago I was having niggling doubts about keeping the Bandit. I really liked it, but I took it in for its 24000k service and according to the dealer the head was incredibly hard to remove due to the pair system being blocked by a plug ( who could have put that there I wonder) and it was sucking water in at another point causing corrosion on the alignment pins/ rods. This left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. And I had been looking longingly at dirt roads for some time, so a month later, I jumped. I haven't regretted the decision once. But I did have a good long think before I did it. Chris, you have few posts commenting on the Bandit coming up short in one category or another in the last few months. Do it, come to the dark side.

Re: Have I Sinned?
Personally I am not convinced by the detuned superbike engine in a more flexible bike. Even with the flatter torque profile the power is still too high in the rev range for lazy city progress where unfortunately my poor girl spends most of her time. but if it's what u want, isn't the z1000abs a better prospect? The fz1s is no cheaper. At least you can get proper luggage for the kwaka. Tried the fz1s. Didn't like it.

A few things put me off.
1. Almost 6000rpm at 100
2. Everyone says its a "buzzy" engine
3. Not half fared
4. Not pretty but not ugly (to me)
The beauty of bikes is that there is something for everyone.

Have you tried a B1250, they are a great bike and sounds like it will suit you well?

Re: Have I Sinned?
No really, chips is on to something here.
Comes in three styles.
Lazy engine can be stonked up to the wazoo
Easily cruises through town
comfortable through the country loaded or unloaded
has a bit of grunt when you fancy it
absolute bargain
Hang on wait a minute..............................

Re: Have I Sinned?
Yes my Son, thou hast sinned, insulted Saint Bazza and all the dear departed who hath gone before, for thou has cast down thine Bandit and allowed thineself to DESPAIR over a matter so trite that we!, who spent our early years on old Pommy, Italian and Spanish Motorbicycles, would have given an arm and a Testicle to have such a pithy little problem like thine Starting Motor.
Hath thee no shame, a loyal steed that has carried your not insignificant bulk around uncomplainingly for almost 30,000 Kms, only 10,000 Kms shy of the girth of the Earth at the Equator and like some sex mad sixteen year old you head off to straddle the equivalent of a Motorbicycling Blonde Bimbo with a bit more bling and a fuel tank that would barely cart your ass to Stratford.
Thee would look like a Grey Back Mountain Gorilla trying to have sex with Pygmy Marmoset Monkey on a Gen 2 FZ1, at least the Bandit has "Presence" looks mean and is color matched to you.
You would look as suited to that undersized crotch rocket as I would as a Speedo model.
If you must make the change to Yamahahaha then at least go for the pride of the fleet, the Generation 1 FZ1 2001 - 2005, a bike built for real men and not little undersized prepubescent turds with small insignificant penises who really wanted an R1 but Mummy said NO!
As you can see by the photo, the Gen 1 (In Richmond Colors) is quite capable of carrying myself and my 6' 4" in his Leather Jockstrap with studs (on the inside) Pillion "Clive" otherwise known as "Armor All" for his love of spraying the bike seat with it before we go riding, makes braking a nerve racking procedure. 150,000 Kms and still going strong

For you blokes who dont know lliquidlen you have to read that with a West Indian (Trinidad?) accent as well
Chris you crack me up and if I show that to the darling the deal will be off.
I get your point, I really do and I cant get a test ride anyway. My only saving grace is that the FZ would be in black again and I would actually be going back to Yamaha. I have never said the Bandit was a bad bike and in a worst case I keep mine. Another option is buy a new GSF. At least with the Bandit I know what its capable of.
You have proven how durable the FZ Gen 1 is and a Gen 11 shouldnt be any worse.
Your way with the queens english might be hard for some, but I love it. But if that bloke is riding with you, you can count me out on the next one
