Re: Modify Exhaust
G'day and welcome.
Efi and air box mods are not required for normal street use.
They can be modded and several here have done so but you don't have too.
You'll gain a few ponies and lose a few kg and the bike will sound better.
I like Beowulf but there are others. All depends on how you want the bike to look.
Personally I think staintunes are to long and skinny but thats my opinion

Re: Modify Exhaust
Hi and welcome. I put a Yoshi R77 carbon on mine because I liked the look of it. Didn't do any other mods. Changing the can saved a few kgs and gave about a 7% increase in poer and torgue (posted the graphs here somewhere). Have since removed the baffle because I reckon it sounds a bit buzzy with it in - more of a growl with it out.

Re: Modify Exhaust
Hi Leigh
I have a Yoshi TRS on mine. The Bandits are over-engineered and respond well to modification. A pipe by itself looks and sounds good and saves some weight, but yiou can make more gains with a filter and a TFI/Powercommander and other mods. It all, depends on whether you want more power or not.
I have a lot of mods - check out http://kewwibike.blogspot.com

RE: Modify Exhaust
G'day. I bought mine with a yoshi slip-on with 260 ks on it. It backfired like crazy on the downshift and the fuel economy was garbage. After a while it started to run really bad, but thanks to Gus's fuel pump fix I got it back on track. I bought a FI Tuner pro rather than a power commander. (price mostly). It came with the map for the yoshi muffler but while the throttle response was fantastic, the economy was bit sad. I reloaded the module with a zero map and now I still have the response and I'm getting 18 ks to the litre and when I get my AFR meter, I'll be able to tweak it some more.

Re: Modify Exhaust
I wouldn’t be overly hung up about the fuel economy. These things can drink heaps if you hammer them and drink a fair bit even if you’re only having a bit of fun. Yes they can get 20km/l trundling down a freeway but you’re talking about only 100hp on a good day so even that isn’t spectacular economy. I get pretty much the same as a mate on a 2009 Fireblade at 155hp or whatever they produce.

Re: Modify Exhaust
I emailed the guy from Screaming Demon exhaust in WA, and he has assured me that no mods are required to Airbox or Computer for his particular exhaust if I purchase his product, and its just slip on and go, havent decided on which brand to go for yet, his pipe is $ 341.

Whichever muffler you get make sure it has the centre stand bracket. You can transfer the bump stop.
Also to avoid potential swearing get another woven mesh exhaust gasket for the link pipe. They can be right pains to remove and if you stuff it you'll need one anyway. They're only about $15 and can save heaps of grunting let alone fine cuts to fingers. It took me 30 minutes to get mine out. Next time I'll just get another gasket
The no mods required is exactly what you were told here Who would you believe first, A group of like minded people or someone with a commercial interest?????

Re: Modify Exhaust
Dont stress about doing the right thing mate. You'll get some good Aussie advice on here and you'll soon sort the wheat from the chaff. Most of us have had Bandits in various stages of modds a while here and there are a number of members here who's advice I highly value.

The stock exhaust uses a gasket ( more of a fibrous sleeve really ) where the muffler slips on to the headers. When you take the stock muffler off the gasket might be stuck inside the link pipe or it might stay stuck to the headers. If it stays stuck to the headers and looks in good nick you can reuse it, if you have to get it out of the link pipe it'll probably get too damaged to reuse trying to get it out.
When I fitted the Staintune I found it didn't use the Suzuki gasket, it was simply a snug metal to metal fit - I believe others may be the same but I don't know about the Screaming Demon.
Regardless of whether you need to use the gasket or the can fits straight over the headers, metal to metal style, you should put a smear of hi-temp silicone over the joint before assembly.
Hope this is some help.
