Seeing i like the painted sprocket cover so much.

Ive been looking at doing the same to the clutch cover ,which hopefully might make it look smaller .It also has a lot of nice polished bolt heads
that will stand out against the flat black (i hope ). I always get a bit nervous doing this because I'll never get the original silver look back if i don't like
the look. If it wasn't raining i my have already done it but now I'm having second thoughts .Anyone care to imagine the clutch cover flat black???
Thats one big clutch cover .If i paint it the t\body may get some as well.

Was really hoping to get it off and re-use gasket .Hate waiting for parts .Have i got any chance or does the gasket self destruct?

The general rule is that if you have a spare gasket on hand the old one will be in perfect condition and reusable and if you don't have a spare one the old one will crumble to dust in front of your eyes.

I like the wrinkle finish paints you can get from VHT. I think they only come in black and red. I did my XR6 Falcons valve cover years ago, looks trick. Gives the surface a texture and a matt finish. http://www.vhtpaint.com/wrinkleplus.html
I'm a fan of VHT products. Just wish I had something to paint. Now where's a B1200S I can restore?
Gus, I just took a close look at your pictures. Did you paint your hose clamps? I hope you did 'cause I cant seem 'em affraid

I used VHT wrinkle finish on the Exhaust Can (used to be chrome )and rad, end caps . The clamps i wrapped in black electrical tape .Sounds
silly but its a perfect colour match and stays on.

Don't do it Gus. Resist the urge. Smile

Maybe buy another side cover from a wreckers and then you can play around with finishes and techniques to your hearts content.
