Fitting my Beowulf muffler
Today I fitted my Beowulf s/steel muffler.I have a 2008sa and most instructions mention a gasket between the joining pipe and the collector/cat converter box.My bike doesn't have one???? Instead it has a what I would describe as some kind of sintered metal sleeve around the pipe coming out of the cat box.Instead of using the new clamp supplied with the Beowulf I used the double clamp from the oem muffler. It all seems to have tightened up ok and I don't think it's leaking.Have I done the right thing.(This is why I don't like messing around with bikes)

Re: Fitting my Beowulf muffler
Thats right its a woven metal piece that on mine was stuck inside the old link pipe and was a PITA to get out.
If doing it again I'd just buy another and save 30 mins. (from an Aussie bike shop! )
If yours was stuck on the cat section you did well.
What Beowulf did you get? Make sure they didn't charge you VAT and if they did kick up a stink until they refund it. Its 17%.
EDIT: And it’s not necessary to block the PAIR system. I like the pop n crackle.

Further to the question I worked out the vat through the discount code section. The whole thing cost just over $300 delivered.Methinks a bargain.

Stick around mate. You'll get the hang of this posting stuff. You might need a thicker skin occasionally but you'll see Gus is the usual whipping boy for some reason.
I have noticed the "flavour" of the site change considerably the last 3 months. I don't post as much now because of it.
Nevertheless we're all brothers.

Maybe we could change the name of this forum to the "Bag it " forum then we can all write in and bag each other without ever talking bikes.I also received and fitted my Beowulf stainless steel oil cooler cover yesterday so if anybody In Perth wants the old one they just have to make a trip to Armadale to get it.I made it from the same mesh as they make put in security doors. It looks ok and I think it's made from powder coated stainless steel.

Re: Fitting my Beowulf muffler
I've got a Beowulf on mine & a fine thing it is, I also used the Suzuki clamp initially but the muffler kept working it's way back over the course of a couple of hundred km so I fitted the Beowulf clamp & no problem.

Good call Freeway as after reading your post I went out and had a look and I actually worked the muffler loose by hand.Plus I had the hanging straps mounted on the inside of the footpeg rather than the outside as per instructions from Beowulf.I had a look at other same bike beowulf installations and you can't see exactly which side of the footpeg it goes plus it just seemed to fit the inside perfectly.

Re: Fitting my Beowulf muffler
Dude, chill out - you asked for help due to noobness on computers and for the most part we are giving it yet you continue to sook or make comments to the same end. Some of the suggestions might be short and sweat but it is done with the best intentions and not meant to be defamatory in any way.
Re the muffler I found the spacers in the OEM clamp to be the culprit for it not tightening up to the beowulf properly. I think the beowulf clamp is a good bit of gear and better suited to the job. I've had no probs with mine yet.
The hanger clamp IMO can go wither way. Main thing is to make sure the muffler sits on teh bike and is positioned so not to put any strain at any pint. When this is achieved, tighten all the nuts/bolts and bob is your uncle. I ahve my hanger clamp on teh inside of the foot peg braket also and it's fine.
