WARNING: New Sport in Canberra
I just got an email from a mate in Canberra, one of the 2010 Phillip Island crew. Some idiots put logs across the road in the middle of the night.
"It seems like the Canberra version of dropping rocks from overpasses is to put treated pine logs on the road. Last Saturday at 0130 I hit one on Eastern Valley Way approaching the intersection with College street (Google maps link) doing the speed limit and dinted both rims. If the following intersection had red lights I would not have stopped in time due to the time airbourne, no longer having round wheels and flat tyres. Thankfully lights were green and I kept it upright. I keep wondering how I could not have seen the log, the bike has perfectly fine headlights after all!"
He rides a GSX R1000.
You can't be too careful.

Re: WARNING: New Sport in Canberra
Thats insane
If caught they should have the logs inserted
For mine that would be an insurance claim to ensure there were no frame cracks and headstem damage not to mention wheels and new tires.
Fuck3n idiots

Re: WARNING: New Sport in Canberra
getting a conviction will be difficult, these idiot cowards would only do this sort of thing at night either drunk, stoned or bored out of their minds, when no-one would witness it.
And to think they have cameras trained on us road users ... but not on the public at large

And yet, if you were to pull up and beat them unconcious with the log, guess who'd go to jail lol.

Absolute dickheads.
Glad you're OK - sounds like you did a fantastic job to keep it upright.

Hmm, bind said idiot to aforementioned log. Secure log to back of bike and proceed forward. That'll do it.

Re: WARNING: New Sport in Canberra
Glad to hear your mate kept it upright, it could have ended much worse.
I hope this is an isolated incident and doesn't catch on. I hope they catch the bastards, but its probably unlikely.
