Hello bandit and GSX riders
I have just found this forum whilst browsing for a radiator guard for my reasonably new bandit. He is an '09 naked version and I don't know why I chose such a big heavy bike - but there it is. I am bonding with him after a rocky start (messy fall in the driveway), and finding him very different from my previous Moto Guzzi. Still, we're off to Tassie soon for a holiday - lots of time to get to know each other...
It's really good to have found you, and I hope you don't mind that I'm likely to have lots of questions for you more experienced riders....

Welcome.
The Bandit carries its weight well but a tip for you is to hold the front brake on while saddling up.

Welcome, I hope you enjoy your Bandit, they're a great bike once you're cruising on the open road.
Stay clear of driveways more bikes probably come to grief there than anywhere else.

Thankyou for the great welcome everyone. I am enjoying my Bandit and have been for a few day trips. I previously rode a 750 twin so this is very different. I haven't even used 6th gear much...

Welcome to the forum. I too find it hard to get into 6th whilst staying legal speeds. Around town, I hardly get above 4th and that's sitting on 110km/h. I did try riding at 60 in 6th, it was fun for a while then I wound it on, woah!!!!Countess wrote: I previously rode a 750 twin so this is very different. I haven't even used 6th gear much...

Re: Hello bandit and GSX riders
Welcome. The Bandit is heavy, but a very capable bike once up and running. A mate of mine has shown on many occassions on an older Bandit that it can hold it's own against guys on 1000cc Sports bike sin the twisties. The bike does require a little muscling to get it to comply in the twisties, but once you get the hang of it you'll knwo what I mean. Oh and yes it is heavy once it starts to tip you need to be strong (and quick) to catch it. Touch wood I have had a few close calls but no drops, as has been stated, keep hold of the front brake when mounting/dismounting and it's normally ok. WA ball bearing gravel and too much throttle heading onto the black stuff can bring you unstuck too.
Plenty of good info on here too. Enjoy.

How do you manage to keep your licence, or can't they catch you.

Re: Hello bandit and GSX riders
I'm usually a good little boy, keeping to the limits. There's only 2 main roads that have the 100 limit when I ride to work. Then there is the ahem, speed test roads, very straight and rarely policedSaikhan wrote:Four40 wrote:Welcome to the forum. I too find it hard to get into 6th whilst staying legal speeds.
