Got pulled.
Got pulled over the other day at Mt Glorious (on the Aprilia) , given a warning about no rear reflector and round rego holder, nothing said about the Akaapovic.Thing is this is the first time I've had a "bike check over" in about 30yrs A few speeding tickets but not a bike "check".Obviously with those odds i'm inclined to leave the reflector off.
Question is though have i been really lucky ,how often does this sort of check happen in N.S.W. I travel through N.S.W. often but it
tends to be out west where things are a bit more relaxed. The last time i went to Philip Island i refitted the original exhaust (Bandit) to ovoid
any problems. Is this a good idea or just unnecessary.QLD seems a bit more laid back about this sort of thing.
Just how bad is it down your way?

Re: Got pulled.
I'm in Queensland and the bike cops up here hit everyone with a 1 point 150 dollar fine for no rear reflector. It's one of their little pet projects. I really dont see the point as at the back their is a large reflective brake light.

Re: Got pulled.
The reflector thingo also comes down to the 45 degree rule for the rear guard which is a really easy target and something even the most basic policeman can be aware of.
The tube holder for your rego sticker is another easy one for anyone to pick up on as I believe it says not to use one on the back of the rego papers. We're lucky over here in WA on this one as we don't even have rego stickers.

Re: Got pulled.
VSI 7 says that vehicles in NSW should comply with reliant ADR's.
Here is the info on the fender from ADR 42
14.3. Wheel Guards for L-Group Vehicles
14.3.1. Wheel guards may consist of either permanent body structure or part
structure and other components, including mudflaps, provided the
specified protection is retained during vehicle operation.
14.3.2. General Requirements
The wheels of a vehicle and the wheel of a side-car must be fitted with
wheel guards of width not less than the ‘Section Width’ of the tyre. The
wheel guards must be so designed as to protect other road users, as far as
practicable, against thrown-up stones, mud, ice, snow and water and to
reduce for those users the dangers due to contact with the moving
wheels.
14.3.3. Special Requirements
14.3.3.1. Rear ‘Axle’ and Side-car
The wheel guard provided for the rear wheel and for the wheel of any
side-car must extend not less than from a point vertically above the
foremost part of the wheel rearward to a point not higher than the
intersection of the arc of the wheel guard with a line through the centre
of the wheel at 45 degrees to a horizontal plane through the centre of the
wheel when a mass of 45 kg is distributed in the saddle of the vehicle at
its ‘Unladen Mass’.
14.3.3.2. Front ‘Axle’
Where a wheel guard(s) is provided for the front ‘Axle’, it must extend
not less than from a point vertically above the centre of the wheel
rearward to a point not higher than the centre of the wheel or to the point
where suitable protection is afforded by the frame or other construction
of the vehicle when a mass of 45 kg is distributed in the saddle of the
vehicle at its ‘Unladen Mass’.

That should pass for sure, just ride past your local police station a few times to test it out.
