Re: And Another one
After a good airing out of the shed I press the starter and instantly it fires up and even settles into a nice idle . The smoke alarm voices its protest and I retreat for you know what

You're an inspiration Gus.
I always say if ya have a half an idea in what to look for and skill to match there's plenty of worthwhile (financial and personal) projects around.
Good Job!

Re: And Another one
A new battery about the size of a small car was bought today . $85 probably would have been $200 if there was a picture of a motorcycle on it .
Doesn't make any sense .Small is expensive big is cheaper ??

Re: And Another one
There is nothing special in what I have done here . A $5 pencil test light , (not a multi meter ) to chase currant , time ,a manual, and not being afraid to STUFF IT UP . You learn more buy you mistakes than by everything working out .
If it goes wrong you can sell the parts off at a profit .
Just look for a model that means something to you or at least interesting .
Try and find one that's all there . Chasing parts is annoying .
Buy one that you can actually ride comfortably , a 125 looks cute but that's all .
DONT worry about huge mileage or if it uses a little oil (who cares ) . MAKE SURE IT TURNS OVER BEFORE PAYING .
Don't pay to get it painted ,a rattle can works well and costs $20. (don't use gloss black , it shows every blemish )
Don't buy new tires , unless your sure its a keeper (unlikely )
Don't expect to make a profit ,aim at getting your money back .
Don't add up the cost of parts at the end , think if you have enjoyed your self .
Don't haggle on a price that you know is a bargain ,just say I'LL TAKE IT . Don't expect it to go . It wont .
Have a limit you can spend ,mines $1000.

And, have a few beers on hand to retire to at the end of the day, especially if things are not going well!

Miracle worker. My brother has a zx7 that needs some love to get going again .The wife is totally against it. I might havehav work on it up at my folks house . It would make an awesome track bike, maybe good enough for road duties.

Re: And Another one
I'm sorry BMW (no i'm not ) but this design of this bike is SHIT , and I can prove it .
You know the adjusters on clutch and throttle cable , screw and locknut type of thing. Its next to the lever ,right .
Oh no , not on a k100 ,its positioned in the centre of the motor . Remove side fairing , remove snorkel ,remove air box lid ,remove airfilter , remove airbox bottom (attached to motor ) and you can just see the adjustment thingo . I say ,see it , because its in a position that is awkward the reach ,and when you do, its round, so you can not get it to move . Even when you manage to unlock it with pliers ,there is not enough adjustment .
After calling it " a piece of German CRAP " for 90 mins (true) I manage to get a decent throttle .Actually it the worst throttle I have ever known due the ratchet design (its a joke )
I check the manual and find there has been a RECALL over the adjustment of throttle cable . .Pity my bike missed it .
Its so obvious this design should have never left the factory . NOT IMPRESSED ,and I only paid $350 for the whole bike .
It fell over today and I felt like laying the boot in .Heavy piece of CRAP .(3 hrs later ,im still not over it )

Re: And Another one
Seeing I paid $350 for mine i'm wondering how someone thinks his is worth $7000. Probably because his doesn't have a Givi fitted .
I especially like the petrol cap . A piece of clear plastic held in place by masking tape . Brilliant .

Re: And Another one
My gsxr1100 finally got put on the road with special interest rego . Its been covered in dust down the back of the shed neglected . I had forgotten how nice it looks , even with a rattle can paint job , especially when you look at the pic above first .
GSXR seat was off another model and black . this model the seat was blue so I painted it in seat ,fabric paint ( rattle can ) came up perfect .
