The week that was....
Had to go to Gladstone early Wednesday morning, from Brisbane. Left at about 2:30 am, got there at 9:00am.
I'm still in constant tune with my Gen 2, so checked my plugs when i got there. Number 2 was a little lean, so tweeked to richen it a little.
When putting in number one plug, as have done. ...Lost track of count, I somehow, due to where i have a relay on my frame for the HID low beam, hit the relay terminals, and blew up my ballast, it didn't blow the fuse !.....not happy. This was a german Hella ballast, that wasn't cheap. I bought a halogen HB4 bulb, and just used the standard wiring to run it. God....how bad is halogen after HID. Scary trip home Thursday night, as I just couldn't see. High beam still a cracker though. (Remember, gen2, two different lights )
3/4 of the way back to Brisbane, I started feeling the chain start to clunk on rotation, and then a buzzing sound from the chain. ( about 2:00am )
Pulled into the next garage and had a look.......the chain slack was now about 120mm of play, not 20-30mm, as should be.....what the????
Thankfully I always carry tools when doing distance, so adjusted, and went on my way. Had about another 150k's to go. Checked again when I got back to Brisbane, and again, it had stretched to 50mm of play.
I've never had a chain do this. It's got 25 000k's on it, and it's stuffed. Yes they start to go off, but not this bad.
I clean it regularly, and spray the shit out of it, to keep it wet. "Yes, I should get an oiler".
One good thing happened, although not fantastic in terms of economy, but is for this bike, I got 18km/L, when I usually get 14.9km/L.

Life would be boring without these little adventures though wouldn't it ..................25000km isn't many for a maintained chain .I have had one go quite quickly as well at the end of its life , but not that quick. what brand was it ?

It's an RK GXW, and I've never had an issue with one.
Over the weekend, i've done about another 300k,s, just doing errands here and there, i've had to adjust it 3 more times, as it just keeps on stretching.
New sprockets and chain on order.
