GSX 1250 FA - what Chain to buy ?
Hi Folks,
my chains on it's next to last notch for adjustment so it's clean it's in need of a new chain, which one should I buy and do I need to replace the front and rear sprockets at the same time ? I'd be interested to know what sort of dollars I'm up for as well. Bikes done about 43,000 kms
thanks in advance

You want a good quality chain from a reputable manufacturer: DID, RK and EK are well known and regarded, (a chain is only as good as its weakest link!).
Next you want at least an 'o' ring chain, or even better an 'x' ring.
You will definitely need to replace both sprockets with good quality components...use a steel rear.
You will be looking at $300 - $350 (chain and sprockets) and you will need an angle grinder and chain link tool (about $70) to get the job done.

Buy a scottoiler whilst you are there. My bike has done similar kms and has heaps of adjustment left

Grabbing these sprockets and an RK chain, however this link provides PN's for JT sprockets and chain. http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/2078http://www.jtsprockets.com/catalogue/model/2078
I'm getting this chain: http://www.linkint.com.au/motorcycle-product-s/12-53W-120_item.html

Wow! ten times longer wear life on the chain.... It should see out the life of the Bandit if that is the case

based on a Chinese made budget chain made from old car bodies I'd imagine, but the chain chosen does promise to have a lot lest rolling friction which translates into a bit more power and fuel economy. Nothing's looking too bad at the moment wear wise but the front sprocket is the one to look at as it spins three times faster than the rear and therefore will wear out three times faster. Will let everyone know next week how it all looks.reddog wrote:Wow! ten times longer wear life on the chain.... It should see out the life of the Bandit if that is the case
