Urgent help!
First topic message reminder :
I did my plugs and filter over the weekend, so had the tank mostly off (left the fuel hose attached as it was long enough to maneuver the tank around still). Got to work this morning and have noticed a couple of drops of clutch or brake fluid dripping from one of the drain hoses. Could I have possibly loosened something while I had the tank off? What should I be looking for? I'm 74km from my tools so I'm hoping it's a slow enough leak that I can make it home and fix it tonight

Re: Urgent help!
You could always have an assistant ready with their thumb to plug the hole. Remove the old sensor with coolant still in the system. Plug the hole until you are ready to fit the new one.
If you leave the cap on, the coolant shouldn't rush out too quickly.
Of course, top up with water when done.
Hope you get it sorted soon, mate.

Re: Urgent help!
Put a clean container under it to catch what you lose. Then you can reuse it

Re: Urgent help!
I never really believe in coincidences, this all happened after doing work on the top of the motor, have you double checked that all the radiator lines are not crimped/bent/twisted. You have probably done it, but back track on the work you did prior to when the coolant first overflowed, make sure everything is the way it was, pipes, electrical connectors etc.
Someone mentioned an overheating issue after install of some crash knobs - the problem ended up that a hose was squashed due to the way the knobs were installed.
Good hunting.

Barry, that's kinda why I suspect the thermostat as mentioned early in the thread. If it's a finnicky old bitch, moving it to get to the plugs might have given it a fright/stroke/heart attack and caused an end to it's user friendliness. I'll triple check everything though. I was reading further in the manual and it mentioned something about sucking extra air can also cause overheating. I need to recheck the air box too

What I don't get is, if it's overheating, why isn't the fan kicking in? This is why I'm investigating the electrics.

I finally found the gremlin! After giving up for a while and just not riding the bike much, I ripped the tank off again today, determined to get to the bottom of it. Saw it straight away! The overflow reservoir hose was kinking between the tank and the air filter box. Didn't notice it previously because I hadn't left it sit long enough between tank removals for it to make a noticeable flatspot in the hose.

Re: Urgent help!
Well done in getting to the bottom of it CTS, as well as letting the rest of us know what happed, been tucked away for future reference.
I've rarely found a "new" fault appear straight after doing some work that hasn't been tracked back to something I did during the recent maintenance. It usually takes a couple of beers to sit down and back-track what and where you were working. If you're lucky it ends up being something simple and hopefully easily rectified.
