MV Brutale 800
Some already know but for those who don't I sold my Firestorm a couple of weeks ago to a mate who rode it once and almost refused to give it back That ownership was a good but sometimes frustrating 3yrs or so.
So that gave me the opportunity to survive on 1 bike. That lasted 1 day officially
I was after something non Jap for the first time in 40yrs. In the search I just missed out on a RSV4 Factory and I test rode a MV F3 800 which was offered to me at a give away price but it was mental in its power delivery and there was "just something about it" that didn't sit well. I consulted some brains trust from here who I respect and got a mixed answer so I let it go. Then I hit on the idea of the naked version. The MV B3 800 Brutale. Same chassis. Same engine. Just with the 675 injectors and smaller airbox knocking 20hp off but increasing the torque.
This is now living in my garage and it's a bloody hoot.
I have to relearn to ride it especially cornering. 160kg 1380mm wheelbase. Wide bars. No gyroscopic effect since the engine counter rotates. It literally drops into corners. After about 800km im getting the hang of it but not there yet. Not overly confident in the PD Rosso 2 tyres and I've never been a fan of the Rosso's.
The bike has already shown me its "Italianness" in a couple of minor ways and I'm sure that stuff I'll either love or loath in time. But so far I love it. Even the concrete seat
It's a long way from a 10yr olds CT90 I can assure you.

Welcome to the Triples Extended Family (bro)! Although mine might be more sedate (and 100kg heavier). Looking forward to further updates.

Re: MV Brutale 800
well done mate..looks good!!
Question...what fuel are you running in it????
Its funny you should be talking about the brand. I pulled up behind an F3 800 at a bowser two weeks ago, not really paying
attention to the bike I was waiting for, until he started it, and moved so I could fill up. That's when I heard the unmistakable triple sound. When he moved, I realised I was at the wrong pump, as I have to use 98 to stop pinging with the timing advancer fitted.
I quizzed him on fuel choice, and he said it had to run on 91.
So do they have a low comp ratio?
Most new age bikes are running 13 to 1, so you got to run 98.
When I rode the GSX1000S the other week, it was pinging its head off, and I told them about it... they had put the wrong fuel in it.

13.2:1 comp ratio on 91 He's listened to to many Americans and forgotten about our differences in fuel ratings. Big stickers on the tank screaming 98 RON only. Poor F3. Same engine as mine just bigger injectors. I've been running BP when I can. Not a lot of choice around here but if you see him again tell him to read the manualmtbeerwah wrote:well done mate..looks good!!

Re: MV Brutale 800
Beautiful bike. Congrats.
I love the styling, especially the exhausts tips.
I was looking at one a while ago, going cheap. His divorcing wife had tossed his keys. Whilst researching what was involved in fixing the key issue, I recall learning of issues with the rear hub. Tight chains and over torqued hub nuts leading to bearing failure.
I'm sure that you are all over this, but for warned is for armed.
Ride it like your missus has her eye on the keys.

He was a cocky bugger. Like I was asking a surgeon what knife he should/does use for surgery.
I don`t like to see engineering of any sort abused. But I think that one is distended fail.

Re: MV Brutale 800
Thanks guys.
Did a couple of maintenance (dont ask about topping up the coolant) jobs and mounted the cameras to the crash knobs as a vibration test.
Sorry about the poor audio. I should have had the mic under the seat but couldn't be bothered!

Disappointed mate... No accidental wheel stand
That front suspension is definitely getting a workout.

Not bad for a stock exhaust system.

Re: MV Brutale 800
2wheels, what`s the headlight optics like at night?
I want to change the light on my gen1, and am looking at all manufactures for a possibility.
That's not a bad looking light for a naked look. There`s a lot similar, but hey, I`d like to use you as a guinea pig first
it looks very similar to an MT-03 light.

Re: MV Brutale 800
I cant comment on the performance of the light as there's too many roo's and other suicidal animals around here after dusk. But the previous owner put an uprated "blue" globe in that somehow passed RWC. Its a big light and I see reflections of signs in broad daylight so I'm sure it would work ok.
Here's a better video I shot yesterday

Thanks mate. Its a nice looking mount for sure but surprisingly they're not "fast". Officially 225kmh pulls them up but they get there quickly

The bigger the better. More surface area to throw light.

Do you want a pic of the light mate? I wouldn't like to try to buy one but I can show how the reflectors are laid out. Not had a close look myself.mtbeerwah wrote:2wheelsagain wrote:Its a big light and I see reflections of signs in broad daylight so I'm sure it would work ok.

Yeah, that would be appreciated mate.
I hear where your coming from with price.
It would be a wrecker grab, but those individuals don`t give stuff away, as we all know.
Could you try and correct the: Shutter speed, ISO and Aperture to give a true perspective view photo of the light throw?

I'll wheel it out of the garage tonight and point it up the street and see what I get.
