Touring Screens
Hi Folks: Until an unfortunate incident I had a Zero Gravity touring screen on my FA and I was wondering whether you all had any other suggestions for a replacement. I was reasonably happy with the ZG screen but before I simply go and buy another one I thought I would get some ideas as to any alternatives.
Thanks

Re: Touring Screens
If its any help I have the vario touring screen from Suzuki which is actually from MRA but in a plastic bag with a big S symbol stuck on it. I also have 20mm risers fitted
I am 1.96m tall. I wear a Shoei GTAir. With the screen extension all the way up I get much more noise but the air hits me just above the visor. With it down, the screen is effectively stock.
Should also note that that I am waiting on a ZG Touring Screen coming from AMC. Waiting being the operative word. They keep changing the story about a) when it was shipped and b) when they predict it will arrive with me and c) how long they would like me to "be patient" for.
The reason I am getting the ZG screen (hopefully!) is a potentially vain effort to have the air hitting a little higher again. Noise is always a lottery with these things. My wife has a tall screen on her Honda, she has no noise, no buffeting and no flies hitting her visor. Not jealous at all.

Re: Touring Screens
If I could find a screen that reduced wind noise for an average height rider I'd buy it for sure
the actual wind doesn't bother me but the wind noise is a huge issue for me having bad Tinnitus just makes it worse

Re: Touring Screens
I have an Screen from Eagle Screens in WA. Pretty happy with it. I have their Touring Screen which is the tallest they make. it gives you a lot more protection than the stock screen.

I can sympathise with you there V17R i suffer from the exact same problem, custom fit silicon earplugs really help,
Trucktoe i had same windscreen as you but slowly cut it down and reshaped it to fit my height, probably took 65mm of the top (15mm at a time) which made it a bit higher than the stock screen but its alot wider, suits my height now but i didnt like it from new, so played around with it and now have a great custom screen, less wind noise and better wind protection than stock

Re: Touring Screens
I've whinged about wind noise a lot around here, good to see I'm not the only one. My experience is that no screen is the best you can hope for on the bandit, still too noisy for me.
Others say this screen or that screen, maybe if you're a runt screens may work? I dunno, not for me though. I sold the bike n that finally put an end to the racket.

Re: Touring Screens
I have the Puig touring. I'm 5'6". The wind hits my visor. Not a lot of noise. I had the Skid marx DB on a previous 1250, i like this one better.

Confusion Reigns!
Hi Folks
Thanks for the replies. I agree with you all that there does not appear to be one screen that suits. I am leaning towards the Eagle Screen from WA at the moment but I am not expecting miracles. I am also considering installing a touring lip as well as the touring screen to be able to adjust the airflow.
ULSTERKIWI: I am not sure that at 1.96m that the ZG is going to be the end of your issues as I am 1.8m but still got an amount of buffeting and I am tired of my mate telling me how quiet and smooth it is behind the screen of his BMW 1200GT. Jealous? You bet!!!
Nic 2: Selling your bike was a drastic but I am sure a successful solution!
As far as wind noise, I found that the 3M ear plugs that I got from Bunnings (not sure if they are still available) have been very good for me. I found that for a very small price these plugs cut out a lot of the volume/frequencies generated by wind noise but I was still able to hear by 2-way and music through my headset.
The ones that I have does not have the 'string' between them but are very comfortable and there is no problem with getting my helmet one and off and them staying put in my ears.
Anyway thanks again folks it is good to know that everyone seems to have the same issues. I will let you know what I finally decide to install.

Re: Touring Screens
I'm also just over 1.8 tall.
I hadn't really thought about it until this trip to Philip Island but I reckon Nic2 is on to something.
With my tank bag on it's much quieter and has a lot less buffering, the wind only hits the top of my helmet, I was even listeng to Google Maps tell me where to go @ over 80kmh with my visor fully up

I went and got the custom fit ear plugs, no better than cheap ones from Bunnings
went back and she adjusted them but no joy but at least I can use them with the Sena 20s

Re: Touring Screens
Shrug your shoulders to your helmet. Bet it is heaps quieter. I just wear ear plugs, not that bothered as my helmet doesn't suffer too much from buffeting

Re: Touring Screens
exactly right reddog!
I got my wife to put some memory foam inside the check pad part of the helmet (Shark 700)just the other day,cut a fair bit of noise straight away
dont know why the manufactures cant come up with something better.
Got a big ride coming up and wind noise is my biggest problem on any bike, the good old Bandit is comfortable for big rides now with the Holeshot/Corbin
