Re: Looks interesting...............
Last year a friend down here gave Canberra Motorcycles a 5 grand deposit to secure one of the first shipment to Oz. They said it would be 18 grand on road and would be here before June. A few weeks ago the sales staff called him and said the F model now won't be here till next year and pressured him to buy the naked which will be here sooner. His language to the young sales staffer apparently could cook a steak well done. He immediately got on to the manager who gave him an immediate refund.
I noted the Suzuki web site says the S arrives July and the F in August. The dealers say different.

How odd, sales staff giving different stories
Chances are a Salesperson somewhere in the country may (or may not) know the real story (or nearly real story)(maybe)(or not)

Yeah better off sending Suzuki Australia an email.
As proven dealers will tell you whatever you want just so you put down a deposit

I reckon most new bikes look more like a Transformers character rather than a motorcycle (except my V-Strom of course)

By the look of it, not much room for two up or luggage. Just a solo scrambler to take to the hills.

And it looks like they have used TWO candles this time, from the pics, for the headlights.

Honda ! It's been that long since Honda did anything good in the road dept. Must be devoting all their time to GP . And that does not seem to be improving greatly. The whole MC world is a bit of a puzzle at the moment. I wish one of the Jap manufacturers would find the right pieces.

air oil cooled???
didn`t think any manufacturer would contemplate going back to that technology.
don`t get me wrong, I ride one, and not about to give it up either.
just didn`t think the masses would go for it.
next they`ll be putting a carby on it.
where`s the oil cooler?

Re: Looks interesting...............
If I was able to keep the Bandit and afford something to complement it in the adventure-tourer category, I'd probably go for the new 650cc VStrom with about $1500 of extras added. But then, would I be tempted to buy the 1,000? Hmm.....

It would be nice to have a few different bikes to cover whatever mood you're in wouldn't itEwok1958 wrote:

Re: Looks interesting...............
I've got a mate with a 650, his mates that ride long distance dirt on their 1000's struggle with the weight and have a lot more offsEwok1958 wrote:

Re: Looks interesting...............
A good friend of mine just purchased a new bike. He test rode just about every bike under the sun to find the right one. Result. V-Strom 1000. He said the 650 was really good but you really noticed the power difference when you jumped on the 1000. He loves it.

Re: Looks interesting...............
I can see the 1000 being a real good long distance tourer used for the occasional dirt road, anything more serious off road than that the lighter 650 would come into it's own
Re: Looks interesting...............
I likey my new DL650A.
I chose the non-XT model as I hate cleaning spokes.
The XT comes with crash bar +$300 plus plastic "bash plate" +$300 for around $1000 extra. It's the only choice if you like cleaning spoked wheels.
Outstanding features for me are seat comfort, gear position indicator and "real" rear view mirrors that enable you to see behind you.
I still miss my Bandit but this bike is the best therapy for it.
