The Drop I didn`t want to have!!
Well it happened, dropped the bike going to work.
Just left home at 4:30am, ridding very slow, so as to bring the bike up to temp, about 40km/h, two streets from home.
turned right doing about 30-35km/h, and the front end went out...yell swear yell swear!!!!!
What the hell just happened I`m thinking...well apart from having absolute crap tyres that came with the bike, which are like blocks of wood, and I think I just touched one of those white things on the road, with possibly a bit of dew, and it equates to the front end lacking adhesion, and brings a bike down real quick.
The damage.
Right hand side, the can looks like its been hit with a cheese grater, (not happy with this, as its my own modified standard can, that works well, and is quiet)
the usual bar end,
brake lever,
indicator,
gauge covers,
engine timing cover,
slight headlight chip, as its glass, and light bezel scrap
tank has a small scratch
handle bar bent.
All fun stuff.
Getting rid of these tyres IMMEDIATELY. This shouldn`t have happened in normal circumstances at that speed.

Bummer mt. I took my wheels off today because I reckon I shouldn't push it any further with the current rubber, which I was tempted to do. But looking at the rubber with the wheels off, I'm glad I made the d. New PR4s tomorrow. Glad you're OK - the rest is 'battle scar' damage which in 50,000kms time will be long forgotten.

thankfully its all only cosmetic, and not a structural thing, and the other big one, no real engine damage, like the case, or fin being broken off,
only a cover, which as it turns out, have a brand new timing cover anyway, still in its box.
So all good there

Bugger, sounds similar to mine only mine was on dusty smooth concrete in the shed at work at less than walking speed, I managed to get away with a front indicator, a scratch on the muffler that polished out and a scratch on the small engine cover that pisses me off every time I wash it. I probably saved it from more damage going down all the way trying to stop it, trouble was my shoulder took the brunt of the impact, 3 days off work after a trip to hospital in the back of a Ambulance

Sad to hear of your misfortune, Mt.
Bloody white lines. Had a spill with my thongs on a pedestrian crossing, once.
Some day they will lane mark with non slip paint, maybe.

Yeah thanks for the well wishes,
I still don`t know why the white stuff isn`t anti slip. I only ordered tyres last Friday as well. Oh well , too late. What`s done is done. Time to start fixing.
I have another stock can I will put on, and modify it, the way I did the other one.
I`ll take photos this time, for anyone that may be interested, as it increased the flow rate dramatically, and is still quiet. Just a deeper rumble than stock, which is what I`m really liking, as time goes on.

I was a mechanic for the local transport department in SA back in the 90's, I can remember the old line marking paint having glass beads in it for grip, IIRC that stopped when they had to start using environmentally friendly paintsmtbeerwah wrote:

Re: The Drop I didn`t want to have!!
I did want to show exactly what I had done to the standard can, but as I had another spare can, all I had to do was transfer the centre, to the other housing after the mishap . The can did look worse but I took to it with a file, and got rid of a big chunk. It had grated right through the housing.
I guess a picture tells a thousand words, so you can get the drift of what you do to take the guts out, but it doesn`t show the full internal workings.
You can see the end result in size of tube compared to standard, and its about 15mm bigger in I.D size.
This makes a huge improvement, over standard in the way it breaths. For me I like how it is still really quiet, but gives a lot deeper tone.
To fix it back in place, you just rivet the end.
