Bloody RAIN!
I think it's all Chook's fault. He mentioned rain in another thread.
We've had about 5 inches in 5 1/2 hours

It's gotten to 7 inches of rain in 7 hours! Not raining now tho.
I'm hoping it's dry tomorrow so I can take Zoe for a ride on an alternate bike

Nah, I haven't worried about even covering the mirrors, (as my mother inlaw used to do ) must be an old wives tale. Can that be verified by any wives on the forum? ( ducking for cover)
I think my dog might a bit pissed off with me tho, he was hiding from the storm behind my chair. Until he dropped his guts how much do dogs stink! He got a short shift outside!

You had 7 inches that day in 7 hours.
We've had the driest year since 2008
Twice this year (May and July) we've managed to get 2 inches in a month (55mm each)
Jan and August we managed to just get 40mm, they are the only 4 months we've recorded more than a inch in a month, only 2 other months have reached 20mm
Our total for the 10 1/2 months this year is 295 mm or about 11 inches
You'd think that'd make for good riding weather, this winter was the coldest I can remember since moving to Adelaide in early 1982 and we seemed to get a lot of days where less than 0.5mm was recorded so the bike still got filthy

Re: Bloody RAIN!
We're actually sitting nicely, with good rainfall and a nice mix of warm and wet days. A hot summer is being predicted (of course, I just removed the old pool!), but we currently have full water tanks thanks to 90mm over the past two weeks.

Re: Bloody RAIN!
I believe the saying is South Australia ...........the driest state in the driest continent . Looks like we might have restrictions again then ...............unless Mr Rann's white elephant .........sorry .........Desal plant can drag us out of it . What we really need is larger / more reservoirs , the ones we have were to suit 1950s & 60s populations & infrastructure .

Re: Bloody RAIN!
If you can borrow a big truck you can take Sydney's desal plant for free.
Since it was completed it has cost $535 million to maintain in hibernation and has never produced a single drop of water.

Re: Bloody RAIN!
Gents this as close as I want to get to the 40 day and 40 night of rain scenario.
Me neighbour said his rain gauge has recorded 1.4 metres since it all started about a week ago.
If you're n the market for a house now is a good time to be checking out where floods and where doesn't.
Gotta time it right to go to the shops with blokes panic buying. Mount Isa had police escorts in the shops when Woolworths restocked to prevent panic buying and food fights. A baker here was restricting purchases to 2 loaves of bread which is appreciated.
Overall the drainage around Tsv has been excellent from what I've seen. The news reports are reporting from areas that locals know typically go under from experience.
Our dam which is a earth wall peaked at something near to 260%. That had me most worried but other than that - all good.
Cannot wait for the roads to dry, I'm gonna ride to Charters Towers to see the might Burdekin River in full flow. Well and truly worth it.

Re: Bloody RAIN!
What is this rain thing you speak of
I've had a rain gauge for 10 years, the 1st 9 years we averaged 489 mm a year
2018 we got 299 mm.
So far in 2019, 0.1 mm in January
We need rain pretty bad atm
