Bikersgear Leathers
Does anyone have any experience with Bikersgear leather pants?
They seem to be exceptional value for under $200 (plain black)
Surely they're better protection than *insert brand* kevlar jeans at a similar price.
I've always baulked at spending $600+ for brand name stuff.
Thoughts?
P.S. Plus its a good excuse to ride to Cowes

Yeah Chris - I have some but I've not worn them since buying them a year or so ago . The reason is that I have both summer and winter Dririder textiles and I haven't worked out when the leather strides would be better than one of those two pairs. But the feel like they'd be comfortable.

Are they double stitched and what do you think of the quality Dave?
You're a bit slimmer than me otherwise I'd make an offer
Re: Bikersgear Leathers
I also have a pair of bikergear leather pants. Can't tell if they are double stitched from the outside so I'd say not.
I've had them for about 5 years and use them for long trip and all day rides. They seem to be holding up well for normal wear and tear
I took the knee guard out as I found them uncomfortable
One problem, as I found I can't tuck them inside my taller winter boots, the tag on the zip on inside of the ankle has stabbed into and damaged 2 seats. I ended up cutting the tag shorter and filing the corners round. No more problems

I have looked at them, didn't knock me out with the quality. There are plenty of slightly 2nd hand name brand (A*, Arlen Ness, Berik, Technics etc.) on eBay or formula-xtreme.com.au for around the same kind of money.

Re: Bikersgear Leathers
I've got a couple of items from Bikers Gear Aus, a riding vest which has been used every ride in the last 2 years. Not signs of wear and tear and it was $70.
Also got some boots (racing style) and they are good, comfortable and warm in winter. Can get a little hot in Summer and no good in prolonged rain (which boot is really!)
All other gear I have seen at the shop looks like good stuff, I like to support Aussie businesses as much as I can also.
I'd recommend them to others for sure.

I'm probably 5kg too big to fit into a lot of used ebay stuff. Forgot to up my bid on a pair of Aussie Rivit leather pants last week in my size. I put an opening bid on figuring I'd chuck a decent amount on in the last 30 seconds but was in a meeting when the auction ended. They went for $36! I would have gone to $100. Them's the breaks

Re: Bikersgear Leathers
I picked up a pair of Bikersgear leather pants just 2 weeks ago, and I must say I'm very happy with the fit & quality of them. Well priced too. I was a bit worried at first (as I purchased online) but they fit really well & even zip attach to my existing jacket.
I also have a very heavily lined pair of Kevlar jeans from FinnMoto which are very good, as well as a pair of textile riding pants, both with knee & thigh protection, but from now on I think the Bikersgear leather pants will be used exclusively.

Great news. Is the sizing correct compared to what size jeans you wear or did you go bigger or smaller?Handy1250FA wrote:I picked up a pair of Bikersgear leather pants just 2 weeks ago, and I must say I'm very happy with the fit & quality of them. Re: Bikersgear Leathers
Took the virgin leather BG pants out for a test run today. MM is right - the kneepads are a bit of a pain so I also removed them. They don't look like they're made of kevlar either - looks like hard foam. Hmm, not sure how much that would protect the old knees. The legs are stove-pipe style and although they have long zips at the bottoms, there is no way they'd fit over my AlpineStars boots. They were comfortable enough (without the kneepads) but a wallet in the pocket dug in a bit more than I'd like so it ended up in the jacket. Not sure about the double stitching - there are two rows of stitching on a lot of the joins but one lot of thread per stitch - is that double stitching?
I only paid $160 for mine (they were on special) from their Mlb shop in the south-east suburbs (can't remember exactly where but it was on the way back to Traralgon, not far off the route).
I reckon they have a place but BG should have a look at their kneepad design - they haven't got that 100%.
Hope that helps.
PS: mine are size 42 if that is any guide. Leg length was good.

Re: Bikersgear Leathers
Thanks Dave. I ordered a pair today. $180 delivered. They are the touring style. The GP2 with knee sliders would be wasted on me
I figured for that money they were worth a punt.
Don't they go inside the boots? All my pants have. Raining? Put the wets on

Yep, I always ride with the pants inside the boots. I just mentioned it in case you were the flaired type!

Re: Bikersgear Leathers
Yeah mine are the touring ones, without the knee sliders.
What I found when I tried them on at the Philip Island store, the ankle section has a huge elastic piece at the rear of the leg. That elastic allows me to stretch them over the outside of the boot. Of course that leaves the zipper tag sticking out which is why I punctured two seats.
Zipper tag shortened and rounded
Elastic at rear of leg
And stretched over a boot
