Carbon Cans and Lacquer
I've had the Yoshi carbon can on for about 60,000kms now and when I saw a mate's bike with a new one on I thought mine looked a bit tired. So I got Autopro to order me some VHT caliper paint in clear gloss lacquer (rattle can - $15) and resprayed the muffler today. Amazing, it looks better than new! The paint is designed for high temperature environments (it can be baked in an oven) so I don't expect any problems. Part no SP370. The other good news is that you don't need to mask off the link pipe because any overspray is not visible (just clean it obviously unless you want to seal the grime in).

Just spray the whole bike mate. Might make that thin paint last a bit longer
What sort of coin are you talking for the rattle can?

$15 - seems to be the standard Autopro price for VHT cans. Yep, when my arse is stuck to the lambswool seat cover you'll know I sprayed everything!

Kind of reminds me of last week. Our new whippet puppy just had a similar fate after he knicked off with a small tube of super glue I was using. Stupid bugger has stiff hair now haha
Lucky he didn't eat it.

I reckon you'd get three mufflers out of a can - two light coats and a heavy top coat on each.

What sort surface prep did you have to do, Ewok?

Washed it clean with detergent and then wiped it off with 3M grease remover. Went for a spin today (see Calendar 2015 thread) and no bubbling or blistering. Seems like I should have done that each 20,000kms.

So is this on the stainless or just the carbon parts?

Just the carbon can MM. It had faded over its lifetime. Now looks like new.

Cool, Good one mate. I have a Carbon can for my second bandit and it's lost most of it's clear coat!
Re: Carbon Cans and Lacquer
Just make sure it's VHT SP370 and not some $3.99 imitation (Supercheap has a clearcoat lacquer at that price).
