Tyre Sizes
First topic message reminder :
I've just been deliberating the way tyres are measured.
My back tyre is 180-55/17 the 180 is the width in millimetres and the 17 is the rim diameter in inches.
I'm sure this is typical Canberra thinking. I know as I used to be part of it.

Re: Tyre Sizes
Ambient air is about 80% nitrogen, the rest oxygen, right? So if the oxygen leaks out faster, repeated topping-off of the tire should then naturally cause the tire to retain a larger and larger percentage of nitrogen, since the part that is most likely to remain in the tire is the nitrogen.
Eventually, if the BS is correct (which I doubt), you should have close to 100% nitrogen in your tire, and close to 0% leakage.
Personally, I think this nitrogen in tires thing is a load of crap - any benefits accruing are miniscule, if even noticable...
