Enduring , or just clinging to the past ?
Ok so today was the 50th anniversary of the Beatles arriving in Adelaide , & they have been making the most of it on the radio .
Then I realized ...........how many songs would I have listened to in 1964 from 50 years earlier on the radio . I don't know if I could even name any songs from 1914 let alone know the lyrics ( although my parents could have ..... but they could have also named some of the Beatles songs as well ). Few entertainers have had as big an impact as the Beatles & I wonder if anyone will match them in the future .

There's so much good music out there nowadays that not too many stand out. I really like Karnivool as they can actually can play live unlike some of the new bands, it's all done in the studio.

It must have been a amazing sight when they were in Adelaide, SA had a population of about 600,000 back then, some reports say over 200,000 were at the Town Hall reception, others say closer to 300,000, 1/2 the state's population. Even the Beatles reckon they never had a bigger welcome anywhere else in the world

The reason why there was so many, was that people thought they heard " the BOTTLES " are coming.

That reminds me of another blast from the past ................anyone else remember the bottle-o who used to call at your house to pick up the beer bottle empties & leave the money under the mat for you .Hammy wrote:Chook wrote:It must have been a amazing sight when they were in Adelaide, SA had a population of about 600,000 back then, some reports say over 200,000 were at the Town Hall reception, others say closer to 300,000, 1/2 the state's population. When we were kids Paul. My cousin and I would go around collecting beer bottles. Take them to a bottle merchant. We would go there first and get some empty wooden crates to put them in. Had an old tin trolley to pull around. Those were the days.
