I've had an off
Bugger, got hit today in Canberra from a young guy who didn't give way at a roundabout (one of the Canberra peak hour racetracks). Hit was at pretty slow speeds. Didn't get hurt. Bike radiator is cactus but oddly the lever, indicator, bar end, casings, etc all escaped damage - maybe because it fell on top of me, pinning me on my back in the middle of the roundabout. Might count myself lucky this time. Now, where's that thread about cheap Chinese radiators - might give one a go since the cheap fuel pump has been a success (now with 20,000kms on it).

Glad your ok Dave, Sounds like the bike will live to ride again. But why go for cheap Chinese stuff when his insurance should be paying for it.

Hey Dave, Glad your ok, had my accident at roundabout too when hit from behind. People still don't know how to use them. I think it may have been better without them.

Glad to hear you're ok, buddy.
Shame about the radiator.
I hope that the other guy stopped and gave you his details.
As Max said, his insurance should pay for it. Make sure that you get the system flushed when they fit the Genuine rad.

Yep, I have to agree with MM. Even if he doesn't have insurance, yours should cover it with no penalty to you, as the other bloke was in the wrong.
Good to hear you're ok

Glad to hear you and the Bandit are not too bad Dave, hope you both are back on the road soon.
Where did it happen, my guess would be the big one at Woden.

if I was 20, I'd have pulled back on the bars, twisted the right writs, jumped over his bonnet, and given him the bird as I landed it. Hmm, well, that it was my memory of being 20 was like!Hammy wrote:What the hell do you think you're doing ? Take more care. I want all of us to stay in one piece for a long time yet. Glad to hear you're okay, Ewok.
I don't know why people have so much trouble with roundabouts, especially in Canberra...I often see abandoned bikes near the big roundabout at Gungahlin and wonder if there's been a bingle.

Hey Ewok. Did the guy in the cage stop and admit responsibility ? Go him for a new radiator if he did. And left cheek.

Re: I've had an off
Sorry to hear about this, and glad your all right.
I can sympathize. I too had an off on my DRZ400 about 4 weeks ago on a roundabout doing about 45-50, and slide down the road for quiet some distance before stopping. Being a DRZ, I just picked it up and kept on going, they just bounce.
Mine was from diesel on the road. No turning back from that shit. Lost the front end and that was it.
Hope you don`t get screwed around by this guy, and a happy ending.

Re: I've had an off
Sad to hear about the off but Happy to hear of no serious injury.
Canberra is reknowned for the roundabouts and after living there for 12 months myself, I can attest to the love / hate relationship with the roundabout.
I loved not having to stop and the corners (chicanes) they provided, but hated the uneducated drivers and having to have eyes in the back of my head when approaching the roundabout when traffic is heavy.
Get that radiator sorted and back on the road soon.
