Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
White Rabbit White Ale (almost bloody undrinkable IMHO). Pity, their Daark Ale was quite nice.

Re: Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
Can't recall the name. It was a local beer whilst in India.
Sat at table and guy brought two glasses, two bottles and poured out the beers. Took a pull only to find out it was warm. Using sign language to explain that we would like cold ones, waiter ran away with the glasses only to return with ice cubes in our beers.
It was brewed from antifreeze, I'm sure. Instant headache after three mouth fulls.

I think there may be a difference in 'worst beer ever tasted' and 'worst tasting beer ever tasted'
worst beer ever tasted;
in a beer hoi in Hanoi, what was I thinking drinking it. sit on a busy intersection and hold up a empty glass and some kid comes a runnin' across the intersection with your beer, sometimes holding 4 beers.
worst tasting beer ever tasted;
Fosters.
PS
I do like VB.

Worst beer tasted?? I don't understand, they all taste good don't they? Ewok, did the tooth fairy pour it for you from atop a unicorn? Surely theres no such thing.
I haven't yet tasted the White Ale as they only make the two and the Dark Ale is one of the nicest beers Ive ever tasted. Well worth stopping on the way down south at the Healesville Brewery just before the Black Spur for a glass of courage.

A mate bought me a six pack of different imported beers all but one was ok. The one that was the damn horrible was Pilsner Urquell

JTB - the very trap I fell into. WR Dark Ale is a ripper, WR White Ale is .................. words can't describe it!

You still on about that Dave. I think you may be permanently scarred!
Some 'craft' beers are filth in a glass, can't remember what we had at Uralla but nobody wanted to finish it.

Re: Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
I certainly won't be rushing out to try then mate. I know your a man of good taste.
MM don't buy another Pilsner beer as Urquell is the benchmark that all Pilsners try to emulate. Pilsners use Saaz hops and thats what gives them that very familiar pilsner taste. You either like it or you don't. Its like steak and bacon pie or steak and kidney pie, they're both meat pies but..........

I count 2 votes already for West End. Quite happy at this point that I haven't had the pleasure.
How about everyones favourite?

Re: Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
Worst beer has to be XXXX. May as well drink water.
Best: I'm partial to Coopers pale and their dark ale and stout
Mind you my old local brewery Brew42 did a sensational stout called Moorhead stout and a kilkennyesk brew called Red Tale ale. So hoppy, love getting a tingly tongue

Re: Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
Amstel beir is the best beer that I have tasted.
Discovered it in a small restaurant in Paros, Greece.
A litre bottle and a Greek pizza for $6. Fantastic eating beer.
Found it again many years later in Dan Murphy and it's gone all upmarket with fancy bottles with ring pull and doesn't taste as good. Why change a good thing?

Re: Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
Note to self....dont try Westend.
Its hard for me to pick a favourite beer as there are so many great ones out there nowadays.
In a previous life I was quite into wine ( before it took off ) and I ran a boutique wine store on Toorak Rd in Melbourne for a few years in the very early 90's.The first 15yrs of my working life were in the wine industry. So I developed a reasonable pallet and was fairly knowledgeable about the industry as a whole. Then the wankers arrived and I sort of lost interest and I didn't want to talk about hints of passionfruit and mulberry overtones with the slightest whisp of cigar box on the back pallet and all that hoo-haa. Now it seems that the same thing is happening with craft beer that was happening with wine back then. The only difference for me is I don't have to sell it, I just have to enjoy it, which is a fantastic thing. So the tasting skills I had acquired all those years back are now being put to some really good use. I love just buying random beers here and there and comparing them. I always try to stop at boutique breweries if Im passing through a town with one. A great mate of mine and I will buy a dozen different beers and do blind tastings just for fun now and again. We are actually beers judges at shows ( dream job, I know). But we are not wankers about it. Im just as happy to sit down and drink VB with a road crew as I am to drink James Squires with Hammy, ( probably a little bit happier on the Squires ). We have a magnificent craft brewery here in Wagga, The Thirsty Crow, if anyone is passing through its well worth a visit. Reddog I seem to recall you were there last year, is that right? If you like stout, which you do, you would enjoy their Vanilla milk stout which has won some pretty big awards already.
So, I can't think of the worst tasting beer I have ever drunk, but the worst beer I have ever drunk was Reches Pilsner on Junee Golf Course for a charity day about 8yrs ago. The beer was free so I think they just cleaned out old stock from the coolroom. It was sunburnt and bloody terrible, just like me on the day.
Some bloody rippers I have tried recently are, in no particular order, Wicked Elf Pale Ale, Feral Hop Hog Pale Ale, White Rabbit Dark Ale, Little Creatures Bright Ale, Coopers Celerbration Ale, Two Birds Golden Ale, Mornington Pale Ale, James Squires Sundown Ale, Two Pines Stout. Drinking a pint of Killkenny as I type this.
Anyway its a nice little interest to have and it ties in beautifully with riding a motorcycle around the countryside. Anybody can do it and Im pretty sure most of us do. Cheers everyone .

Re: Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
Anyone that can drink that swill with the green label should have no problems enjoying a West End Draught, VB would have to be the most over rated disgusting swill sold in a brown bottleJimmy the Boy wrote:Note to self....dont try Westend.

BTW, most beers I prefer from the bottle, WE is the exception, much better from a can, better again flowing straight from the Keg

I had to drink Westend once at a concert in Balaklava, SA. It's all they had . Never again!Chook wrote:West End s ok Reardo but I'm with you on Export, it's been so long since Export was made I cant remember the last time I saw itReardo wrote:It's toss up between West End Draught or Export .

Re: Worst Beer You've Ever Tasted?
In my profession it is essential that I scientifically test and analize all beers that I can get my hands on. Yeh right !
Am currently devouring several ( or more ) Dry Dock lagers. Very nice. Try one. or two. or twelve.
