I've heard that Queenslanders are very fond of their curtains.
Re: Seriously!
I was hoping Chris Hill was 6yrs old then I re read the first sentence. He also mentions the CSIRO but obviously doesn't work for them which is a shame as he looks to have the qualities they seek out in employees.
For some strange reason some people live in a parallel universe when the subject of daylight savings rears its ugly head. The simple solution is don't own a clock, watch sundial or timepiece of any kind. The sun comes up in the east in the morning and sets in the west in the evening. It doesn't matter what the hell your watch says Chris. Maybe at 7pm tonight Chris could wind his watch back one hour to 6pm, then take the battery out of his watch and the sun will stay in that position until he puts the battery back in. Or much better still, to save the planet, if Chris could be so kind as to wind his watch forward 2 hrs at 7pm every day thus creating instant darkness and saving us all from the suns harmful rays.
I can only hope Chris was taking the piss. If so the letter was a bloody beauty. If not, God help us all if he gets into politics.

I hate daylight savings. Glad WA got rid of it. When I say hate I actually mean I hate it because the government pushes it on us and most businesses don't allow you to start an hour earlier if it's not daylight saving So fuck it. It's a no from me.
It also plays havoc with our historic plant data at work

Re: Seriously!
Technically , the extra hour is put on @ 2 am , when we all wait up to change our clocks , so actually we have an extra hour of darkness not daylight ,which may account for the unseasonal floods we sometimes have .Strangely enough ,I've noticed our curtains in the lounge are looking a bit darker & richer in colour lately as well.

What I can't figure out, is , how does the Sun know when to come up an hour later when you change your clock ??

I think the moon keeps an eye on the time & lets the Sun know when it's time to come up .

Re: Seriously!
What I want to know is, what are they doing with all the Daylight that's been saved over many years now? I mean there must be so much of it now. It must be in a bank vault somewhere as I've heard of daylight robbery so people have obviously tried stealing some in the past.

Its like the carbon credits thing. The government can sell it off to the likes of Canada and Alaska for them to use in their winters when they get bugger all daylight. North pole can't afford it. Not until they start selling their oil. Then the North pole will be like Saudi Arabia. Word is, Paker already has the rights for the first casinos up there. It will all be tax free. So the rich and famous will all shift there. Just wait n see.

Daylight credits, of course! Im not sure why Alaska and Canada would purchase our surplus daylight. Surely they could save their own 6 months of extra daylight in the summer and the local governments could ration it out over the winter period saving the tax payer a costly impost from imported daylight.
We can only hope the Australian Government has securely stored our saved daylight, as the way things are with the free trade agreement if Woolies and Coles get a whiff that our stocks are running low they'll be selling inferior Brazillian and Californian daylight to us at highly inflated margins. I shudder at the thought of imported Chinese daylight as you can't even see through it. Lets hope it doesn't come to that. We all know Australia has the best and brightest daylight in the world, so think local people, we can do this.

Re: Seriously!
Derrrr. Canada & Alaska have already signed trade agreements with other "shadey" countries. I cannot name them at this time. The "shadey" countries are willing to pay over the recommended retail price. And they can. The Chineese cannot get into the market, yet, as their daylight has a yellow tinge to it. Which no one wants. At this stage. I'm probably saying too much here. Who knows who's looking in.Jimmy the Boy wrote:Hammy wrote:Jimmy the Boy wrote:What I want to know is, what are they doing with all the Daylight that's been saved over many years now? Tis the same as the morons who ask why we have to go out and kill animals for meat when we can buy it from the supermarket.

Kaupy, please don't encourage us. Im not starting on this one but I will leave you with two famous quotes by one of the worlds greatest philosophers:
" Porkchops and bacon, my two favourite animals "
Homer ( Simpson )
" I'd be a vegetarian if bacon grew on trees "

No we can't do that the government has already sold off our daylight reserves to the Chinese at bargain basement prices! I think its around 4c/ltr
