Re: Victorian Alps Ride 2013 Day one
Wow! What a great video! Must have also been a great trip to.
I just returned home yesterday from an overnight ride to Bombala via the Bonang Hwy. returning down the Cann with a couple of mates on our annual New Years trip.
The Bonang Hwy. has become my favorite piece of road in Vic now. With such a long stretch of road with so many bends, good surface, no tightening radius' or off camber corners, it makes for some great riding. Sham about the 80k speed limit which we all obey don't we! I've ridden it 4 times all up. 3 in the last couple of years & once 30 years ago when most of it was dirt, it was still good even then.
Just one question. How & where did you mount the camera to the side of your FA? I've been trying to figure out how to do it without the camera vibrating.

Hi Kelpie
Thanks for that, and thats just day 1 still got 2 more days to do.
I hope they never seal the rest of it. The dirt keeps the wannabe's away so it stays off the radar
as for my camera i mounted with the gopro suction mount to the fairing, tethered of course to the bike, if you look at the bombala to bonang section where i was shooting the guys flyby you can see it mounted on the fairing

Great video James. Now I want to go for a ride but can't
I'm still uploading footage ... I have a lot of video I thought was no good due to bug splatter but I'll upload it anyway.
And I've lost all the backward facing video ... because I'm a dill

Re: Victorian Alps Ride 2013 Day one
some tips, try and keep your camera as close to the base as possible, keeps the leverage down, what ever camera you have shoot at the highest frame rate possible and as wide as possible
ie. my gopro pro black is set to 720p 100 FPS wide, my Contour roam 2 is set 720p 50fps wide, these settings settle the mild vibration that happens to the camera whilst on the bike. as i do professional event capture, i have three gopro's 2 blacks and a silver plus a contour roam,
when i mount them on the bike the camera that is rear facing on the rear of the bike get the most vibration so the higher the FPS it needs so i set it to 100fps, forward facing camera's can be either 50 or a 100 (Pal TV setting) same with body mount i find the Contour which is always either mounted to my mates helmet as in the video or mine so 25 FPS is fine
so rule of thumb if the camera is not mounted fairly rigid your going to get shit footage
cheers
Jim
