GSX1250FA Tool Kit
G'day all, just wondering if anyone knows if the tool kit that comes with the bike is supposed to have a rear wheel spanner in it. I got a puncture the other day and went to remove the tyre using the kit only to find that there isn't a rear wheel spanner or a front wheel spanner for that matter. Has the dealer given me the wrong kit or is this how it is

I would have thought so , the gsf 1250 has one ......(p.s. this may have been better in the mechanical section instead ) It is probably better to invest in a socket & torque wrench as well.

It may well have the spanner in it but you'll never remove the wheel using it or do it up to the correct torque
Go buy a 36mm or 32mm socket (cant remember which one it is) and while you're at it a multi fit hex key for the front axel
Cam can you move this to the Mechanical forum please
Re: GSX1250FA Tool Kit
It does have a spanner for the back wheel in it.
I have used it twice to remove and replace the rear wheel. However you'll never know if you've got it at the right torque and I doubt its effectiveness on the side of the road.
I used it like a flogging spanner with a rubber mallet to loosen and to re-tighten it.
One day I'll buy a real socket for it

The rear wheel spanner with the provided extension which slips over the handle is enough to tighten the axle adequately, imo.
I don't know the factory torque specs, but have found on my Gsxr and Gsxf (both the same axle and tools I suspect) that the rear nut has been torqued so tightly that it has stretched the thread on the axle.
Unsure why people wrench the guts out of these nuts. Of course you don't want it to come undone, but over tightening is as bad as not doing it up to an adequate torque.
I had to get a four foot pipe onto the Gsxf to get it undone.
I have only ever done them up hand tight with the spanner and then a little pressure with the size 9 to nip it up. Never had one work loose in any way.
I'll probably be chewed up and spat out for not torquing to spec but that's my 2c worth.

^^ 72f/lb and if you can get that with the supplied tool you're doing well. If you're happy with 30 im happy for you
Re: GSX1250FA Tool Kit
72.5 lb is 35kg one foot or 30cm from the nut, surprisingly enough the distance that the spanner and extension bar make.
I think my size 9 easily puts out 35kg .

Cheers Guys I'll go back to the dealer and tell them to give me one. As for the wheel Torque on the side of the road it's as tight as I can get it, in the shed at home I use my torque wrench.
