intercom recommendations
Ok. So getting to the stage in my life where I have given up the boy racers and bought a two up tourer.
Couldn't see myself as a cruiser or BMW nut, so bought the best kept secret tourer, The Not Bandit.
Next on the old fogies shopping list is an intercom.
I did a search and only came up with two threads.
Has anyone got experience? Suggestions? Reviews? Interested to hear all input.
Cheers.

Re: intercom recommendations
Bosco there is only two brands to look at the Scala G9x twin set, the price is high but there feature rich, ie multiple riders, Bluetooth to your phone or GPS, voice command. The Sena 10 not as many features bit more glove Friendly and also the New Scala Q3 looks pretty cool too
Now they can all be a bit temperamental at times i have a G4 twin set and my mate does too. we had all sorts of connection issues but i put together a trouble shooting guide in Product reviews to assist scala G9 & G4 users i have it pretty much nailed now. My G4 doesn't cause me any trouble, clink to link works a treat ( talk to others scala users ) music works and its clear up to about mfmmfmmsmdm140kphmfmfmfmfmfm
if you get a scala give us a call and i help you out , and seriously after dealing with scala i reckon i know more about there product than they do
finally stick to those brands much less hassle

Re: intercom recommendations
Thanks Jim.
Just researching Scala units now.
Not really interested in all the bells and whistles. Gps, phone etc. Would just like rider/pillion comms and the radio sounds cool. If I could find a run out deal on older model Scala units I would be happy.

Re: intercom recommendations
I can highly recomend the Sena.
I have been using mine 2 hours a day (weekdays) for the last 2 years.
No problems what so ever
Battery life is great. (Charge it on Wednesday Morning when I get to work, and on the weekend, 2 hours use per day)
Use it for music, and phone calls, and intercom when the other half is on her bike.

Jan And I have two baked bean tins and a length of string. Works really well until we get into the twisties. Then you have to change to spaghetti tins.

Have you tried using elastic instead of string?

We use a 'remote touch' system, works well usually.
Tap on the left shoulder - "Pull over I need to get off"
Tap on the right shoulder - "Just a quick word"
Gentle rhythmic tapping on my leg - "This is great music, shame you can't hear it"
Punch to the kidneys - "STOP NOW - I'VE BEEN TAPPING YOUR LEFT SHOULDER FOR 3KM - STOP NOW OR ELSE"

Re: intercom recommendations
I have the Scala G4 for inter-bike coms. Had it for about 4 months and works pretty well. (Such a fantastic feature being able to talk between bikes, for safety etc).
As for the Scala hardware I can't recommend it above any other but works okay so far.
One thing I don't like is that with the G4 unit removed (slides out) from the mounting bracket/cradle (fixed to helmet) the electrical slide-in contacts are exposed. I imagine these wouldn't benefit from being wet and dry too much.
Whatever you buy I recommend purchase of the flexible microphone not stiff boom. The mic is then invisible, out of the wind, and right near your lip in the helmet.
GG

UClear HBC200 Dual Force Boomless/Bluetooth -these might be o.k - How ever I have been using the scala G4 for the last 5 years with no problems. Even when we do motorcycle tours over seas , and have only recently gone to the scala G9 . Which seems to be even better than the G4 .

Re: intercom recommendations
I have the Sena SMH 10 and its great. I have phone playing music, a GPS (much to Gus's hatred ) and the intercom. all works faultlessly and with great sound quality. I originally had the Scala G4 system but had frequent drop out issues so got shot of it very quickly.
Sena however are just releasing an new system the SMH20 the intercom range for bike to bike looks fantastic.

Re: intercom recommendations
Got the Scala G3 at a good price.
Have had 3 rides, bike to bike with the missus, and am very happy with the performance.
Only problem so far, I can't whistle to the radio without activation of the intercom.

Re: intercom recommendations
My Sena SMH10 arrived yesterday and I gotta say, it's the biz! Easy to start up, easy to attach and had no trouble finding my Android phone and Android tablet. Finally, tunes on the bike . Although, I have already discovered that The Offspring and the Barton Highway don't really mix...I'll need a playlist to calm me down for that road.

I have a similar issue with Metallica and Fuel.

I've got a earlier Scala, the Q2, works a treat, gets a bit noisy with the visor up over 60 kmh, other than that it's been greatMattyC wrote:To ask on a old thread.
