New Jacket Purchase - ANY RECOMENDATIONS??
Hi All!
I've just been given approval from my Chief Financial Officer ( She Thinks!) to buy my own birthday present.
I have decided I need a new jacket as my next priority.
I'm really interested to hear ANY suggestions on brand and model.
Looking for a textile, all-round good for winter cold, with removable inner for summer as well, with a budget of $150 - $300 mark.
Wanting a good quality that will last many klms/years.
I read on another post about DriRider Air Rider 2 with some good comments, but also some concerns over Zips.
If you have a jacket that you swear by & have had it for a little while, I would love to hear.
"BRING ON SPRING"
THANKS FOR ANY IDEAS:D

Never had a good one , in fact they have been F\n crap and for that price range ,IMHO that's what you will get .
A BMW textile jacket costs $1300 -+ , they work (? ) .Not surprising all my textile jackets have been crap .

Re: New Jacket Purchase - ANY RECOMENDATIONS??
I have 2 Dry Rider Jackets including the Air Ride 2 and haven't had any problems with zips
Dry Rider use genuine YKK zips.
Neither of them live completely up to their name :cry:as I have got wet in both of them.
For what you want you wont want the Air Ride 2 anyway, it is a summer jacket. It is a short jacket, mainly mesh outer, the liner will provide some warmth but not for the coldest months

Re: New Jacket Purchase - ANY RECOMENDATIONS??
I would say that my current (5 years old) RJAYS 'adventure' jacket is pretty good.
However, as with any jacket that has a removable rain liner, once it gets wet it takes a while to dry out. I have a separate waterproof jacket I wear over the top if it's really raining or I'm going to be in the rain all day.

I rate the Dririder Nordic Pro. I think that it's superceeded now but am sure there is a current equivalent. Even after hours in the rain I remain, well a dry-rider, has the removable winter liner, and yes have had a zip issue, (one of the sleve zips). Not really the issue as there is a velcro tab that pretty much serves the same purpose. Bought very slightly 2nd hand off Ebay for about $150.
Cheers

I am not much help with your price range but for what its worth i used to wear a dririder enduro jacket with similar style pants but then i had to buy leathers to do some motard racing and that is all i ride in now, i just feel that bit safer and if it is cold i just slip on a jumper underneath (made sure i got some with a bit of room) . They are two piece that zip together so i can take off jacket at stops and the brand is technics, cost about $900 but will last me forever. Berrick also make some decent leathers about the same price.

I highly recommend the Rev 'It Sand jacket. Water proof, warm as and barely a scratch after a recent lowside. Crash tested and approved :oops:A bit exxy but I'm getting my monies worth.

I have a Rukka all weather Jacket totally dry in the wet warm in winter fantastic quality. Just depends if you wan to pay the price tag. I paid $2200 for my full outfit Jacket Pants and Gloves however with a five year warranty and the gloves have had to be replaced due to a stitching fault. After care service from Innotesco the distributor is amazing also.

Re: New Jacket Purchase - ANY RECOMENDATIONS??
I've been getting around now for a few years with a Winter job from Biker's Gear Wharehouse (BGW). It was only $99 so I bought it and a summer one as well (same price). They are probably not 10/10 for quality but crikey they are far from 5. I'd buy both again in a flash. The winter one has proven very waterproof and has lots of vents and of course removable liner. My only comment is that the adjustment at the wrist can cause it to dig in a bit (but I have skinny wrists) but can be readily adjusted so it doesn't. The overflap at the front of the zip is the largest I've ever seen on a jacket which I'm sure helps with waterproofing.
Hope that helps.
