I'm thinking about droping a tooth or two from the font sprocket or add to the rear.

So, what i want to know is how many RPM does it add to the RPM at 110k in 6th?

And what would the highest "safe" RPM that u would travel at?

Does it make a big diff to the bike?

Removing teeth will actually lower the RPMs at cruising speeds.

Losing teeth Empty 46 tooth rear sprocket

Post  ohmyfj55 Sat 22 May 2010, 1:52 pm

Hi reardo,

I have fitted a 46 rear sprocket and from memory the rpms were around 4500 for the 110 in top gear.

Double check with Reddog on PSB as i am sure that he runs a smaller by one tooth sprocket on the front. The acceleration is better without affecting cruising speed greatly.

less teeth on front or more teeth on back = increase in RPM at any given speed
more teeth on front or less teeth on back = less rpm at any given speed

see here for a gear chart. You'll need to select the bandit from the drop down lsits.

Safe cruising RPM is a personal thing, but for me I recon the engine should be spinning at somewhere near 4000 rpm which once i finish my bike will be 3800 (ish) with the 17 tooth front sprocket

Another thing to think about is the need for some kind of speedo correction as with the new sprocket(s) it will be incorrect.

The speedo healer is one option
Here is another You will also need the box they suggest which is worth about $5. Once finished it takes up a bunch of space under the seat. almsot as much as the tool bag

I've found another speedo correction device.
Have no experience with it but it's cheeper than the speedo healer and looks to be smaller also

House Of Speed sells em in Aus.
