I`m jealous paul...

I`ve been up a few times myself over the years, and absolutely love gliding, would like to get my licence

I always purposely stall the glider to get the sensation of weightlessness..such a buzz

hope you had fun!!

Must give it a go; I'm told that glider pilots know what their feet are for!

The bloke who took me up said that motorcycle riders make good pilots due to their co-ordination , balance , & gentle ease with the controls.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants to give it a go it was fantastic , ....................now if I can only convince Sue I need another toy ( LOL her first word to me when I got back on ground was......... NO  )

Does that mean Douglas Bader would not be a good glider pilot Question

Hey Paul, you'd make a better door than a window. Smile
How is it when you're coming in to land knowing that the pilot can't see anything in front! affraid

No, ol' tin legs had tin feet so would have done just fine Smile

I am told that gliders have a lot of 'adverse yaw' and so require a lot of 'turn-coordination', unlike modern airplanes where this handling trait has pretty much been engineered out.

The pilot asked if I minded if he had a play & used an old flying technique & brought the glider  in sideways until the last minute & then straightened it up to land ..................maybe it was so he could see out the side window lol!

I prefer to call myself cuddly than a barn door Laughing

My wife and I did a glider flight in Oahu (Hawaii) north shore about 10 years ago, what a great ride. The pilot said there would be a sudden drop when the tow cable was released, mate did it drop, but only for a second or two then it was soaring like a bird.
