Midweek run up to Mt Macedon
Its been a while since my last ride report, so what better way to enjoy a morning on the Bandit knowing that its being paid for by work !
No, I havent taken a job as a journo.....
We had a "junkit" at work today, so the start time was 10am at the RAAF Museum in Point Cook. I wasnt about to waste a morning with a sleep in, and a school taxi run. With a 6am departure I headed north, joining up with the Hume Hwy at Donnybrook (where I swapped my summer gloves over for the warmer winter ones!). A quick squirt up the Hume and onto the Northern Hwy on my way to Kilmore. Note to self....check out the "Tram Museum" with the kids next time. Left at Kilmore and onto the Lancefield Road, I was looking for a nice spot to catch a sun rise and hopefully get something for Cam to stuff into the next calendar. Found this spot, and while practicing (read....farting around with the camera) I got "Skip" heading home......

anyway, this is what I ended up with....

and it was with my bloody android phone! The camera decided it was too cold to operate.

Well, onto Lancefield, across to Newham, and then down to Hanging Rock.

Straws Lane takes you the back way into Mount Macedon. There's a few tight 10km/h corners, and a very pleasant wind up to the Memorial Cross.

.....and yes, it was pretty foggy!
Heading back down the mountain, I stopped for a quick bite and a map adjustment in the tank bag.

I was running out of time, so I headed straight for Gisborne. Turned right at Gisborne for Bacchus Marsh. Now thats a nice piece of road, and some great views looking back towards Melbourne over the reservoir. Thru Bacchus Marsh and out on the Balliang Road I had one last stop for a quick pic...

its the main rail line from Melbourne to Ballarat.
Well, a quick blast down thru Werribee and onto the RAAF base at Point Cook.

Made it just in time!

Total round trip (door to door) was 290kms. I should do this more often!

Good one SB. That mist and dirt in your pics reminds me too much of last year's trip to WSBK, when we got lost and ended up on Mt Donna Buang on the way back from the Island to Mansfield.

The Parks ranger looked at me a bit weird....a lone bike up the top of a mountain, fogged in, and an hour before gates were to open!!
It was nice to get out for a "ride" rather than a "commute".

The picnic basket would be no problem, but I reckon the white dress may get caught in the rear sprocket!
