Got a ticket this morning

Got booked on Cahill Expressway Corkscrew by two riding coppers waiting for every bike coming around the traffic.

They must have got 15 bikes/scooters while I was there.

After getting my $232 fine for driving over a continuous marked line, I was chatting to one of the coppers, who was a decent bloke, and he told me that one of the bridge workers had his esky knocked out of his hand by a passing motorbike going up the emergency shoulder (like everyone does there). And I believe him because about 10 bridge workers were sitting there having their morning smoko laughing and photographing everyone getting booked... pr!cks. But fair play, price you pay for cutting a corner here and there on a bike.

The copper went on to say that they would be there regularly for a while until riders get the message that the boys in blue will be hanging out there indefinitely. So be warned!

And I usually take the tunnel...

That sux. Any loss of points ?

I went the same way again this morning and they were there again, hiding this time. I gave them a salute as I went past.

I did some reading about the rule, and as I crossed the line right as Cahill Expressway merges with the Bradfield Highway, if there is a car in front of me indicating and merging, technically I am allowed to overtake on the outside, cross the outside solid line to overtake. Once I cross that line I have 100m to merge back into the lane. Similar to how you do it on a country road if there is a right turner and you overtake around him.

I almost feel like testing the law, but not willing to test with my points or money.

good to know! if I'm riding to work I will take the corkscrew most days, but have not ridden around the traffic - looks like I won't be starting either!
