I think I've bought a Sewing Machine !
Went over and did the trade on the bikes yesterday. Rosie for the new girl, "09 Silver 1250. Yet to be named and chistened. Am very happy with the deal. I put my Renthals on 1250 at the shop. Is very comfy. Got her on the freeway coming home and all you can hear is the engine. Purring. Hardly any exhaust note. That will change very soon. The gearbox is so smooth , I love it. A little cluncky into first. But nothing too bad. She has a new set of P3s on . They feel very good. I think it has been well srviced but not too well cared for. Looks like the previous owner may have traveled on gravel roads a bit. Nothing a bit of elbow grease can't fix. The rear Wilbers shock is superb. That is a real bonus. The ABS brakes feel excellent. Have a new set of good pads that were waiting to go on Rosie. So will put them on . She is already jacked up, tied up. and stripped down to do a complete check over and tidy up. Bit of paint here. A bit of polish there. Can't wait for our ride on the 8th and 9th.

Nice work Hammy! "Silver" was the name of The Lone Rangers steed wasnt it??
With a standard muffler, you not only hear the engine, but the front brakes as you slow! How much of a strip down do you do?

I know the feeling. When I went from the 109 (1800cc VTwin, with a virtually straight-thru 2 into 1) to the Bandit that was totally stock; at the lights I had to keep looking down at the tacho to make sure the bike was still running....

Thanks sb. Not too much. Wheels, forks. Check bearings. Clean those hard to get at places and wait for my new can.

Cheers Lurch. I think that Suzuki should have thrown a 20lb bag of sand on the L/H side to compensate for that god damn muffler.

Oh, the stock one weight a freaking tone. In saying that tho - saving 15kg's on a 319kg (dry) bike doesnt add up to much

Hammy if you are stripping it I'd take the shock linkage out and give it a greasy birthday too. God knows why they didn't put grease nipples on it. My DRZ has grease nipples on the linkage, which means you don't have to pull the bugger apart.

I was surprised how light my Delkevic can & link pipe are! only 3.5 kg all up. Most impressed. I wasn't game to put the old can on the kitchen scales
