Gino the new guy
Hi all my name is Gino and I am from South Africa, I recently bought a 1250 bandit 2008 model and put on a performance pipe, bmc filter and she pulls like hell through her gears but I can't seem to do more than 240km/h at top end is this normal.

Welcome to the forum Gino. 240 is about where they top out and you'll need more than just an aftermarket pipe and air filter to change that.

Re: Gino the new guy
Welcome aboard.
240 is respectable for a smidge under 100hp. Don't forget the pull through the gears is torque. HP determines speed.
These bikes shouldn't be compared to sports bikes with 60+ more ponies (and much lighter)
Did you buy the right bike?

Re: Gino the new guy
Welcome Gino - hope you are going to be satisifed with 'just' 240kmph! If not, you'll need to be trading up to a ZX-14, Hayabusa, etc. We lost one forum member because he wanted more ponies - he went for a second hand ZX-12.

Gino, welcome aboard.
For me it's about enjoying the ride - smelling the roses (Black Knight). Getting there fast is Red Knight.
The Bandit provides the no f*%+ing around in traffic factor with that big bore 4 zing - in any gear. I like that part.
Red,White & Black Knight...

I've have had $268 rang up on the cash register with the Air-Cooler on High, blowing on my back.
I would of got more, But the shopping aisle was busy.
P.S. The Register may need a Currencies Converter by -4% Like most of this type of Register.

Great response!
The name is actually Eugene but Gino is just dandy and I don't have any Italian history but (Indian, English, French) background.... crazy dudes, I know. Anyway, the bike is great and I am happy with the power and I believe if I fit a de-restrictor (eg.Nikko- Gpack3) module I should get respectable gains and still below the rev limiter range.
But let's see, otherwise I am a happy chappy and the roads here are great especially out in our wineland's area's, coastal area's all nice routes for runs.We having our winter rains at present and I can't wait to take her out on the road.

Welcome Abroad
Hi Gino,
Hope you find the forum informative. Also have the K8 and very happy with it, just carried out it's 16,000klm service in fact. Reliable, easy to work on, easy to get parts for, inexpensive to buy, plenty of torque, comfortable...need we go on.
All forum members are a great bunch and easy to approach with any questions you may have.
Regards,
Nathan

Nikko won't do anything for top speed on the Bandit.
In fact if you work them to the red line (without major mods) you're riding them wrong.
I ask again if you have bought the right bike?
Re: Gino the new guy
Even with full exhaust and other mods it won't hit anywhere close to 300. If you get up to those speeds you don't have twisty enough roads anyway
If you are disappointed with the top speed fit a turbo or buy another bike. The bandit is a sports tourer, not hyper bike.

Speed schmeed
I had a couple of bikes before this one and maybe I should give the K8 more credit, i just feel that the bike is capable of a bit more at the top and I know that the Bandits are torque bikes and yes I did buy the right bike.I had bikes that reached 300km/h and in reality I never rode at that speeds for more than 30secs, so yes I dig the bandit, the deep sound, the pull, the sitting position and oh yes the pillion seat for my wifes jenny lopez bum lol!

you're wife is Jenny Lopez?
The best i have got out of my 2002 is 255 by the speedo, allow a bit for innacuracy and I am happy.
You sound a bit like me Gino in so far as you might like the top end speeds a bit more than the twisties, yes?
