The Yoshi website doesn't care - it lists GSF1250/GSX1250 together. That suggests to me there is no difference in the fit of their cans for either the GSF or the GSX.

No difference for anything other than fairing, instruments, radiator and lower shock mount. Accessories, mufflers, brakes, seats, all fit the same, and the GSF search will give more stuff

I have a GSX1250FA. Looked at my compliance plate last week and it actually says GSF1250S. So not sure it matters.

Maybe its a GSF that's been tarted up to look like a GSX
I'll be checking mine tomorrow

There was an article in Sport Rider where they tarted up a GSX1250FA with Dale Walker's gear. I have a lot of his stuff (I even have the actual fork brace from their test bike), and noted their comment:
"The high-quality shock is available only through Holeshot Performance, with a modest retail price of $645. We found that in the transition from GSF/Bandit to GSX, Suzuki has slightly changed the rear suspension linkage; a shock intended for the earlier models will not fit the GSX. Take care when ordering suspension bits for either model." (I pass this on but haven't checked for myself)

Be interesting to know. The GSF and GSX shocks are a different part number. I think the difference is in the cast mount pivot, but someone will need to look.

I could be pedantic and say the muffler is different but I won'tkewwig wrote:No difference for anything other than fairing, instruments, radiator and lower shock mount. Accessories, mufflers, brakes, seats, all fit the same, and the GSF search will give more stuff

And the standard springs in the front forks are different apparently (to handle the weight of the fairing). Probably bugger all, but that's what I've read several times.

I've read the same, the extra weight from the 'S' model to a 'FA' would be 2/3 of stuff all. Only really the weight of the lower fairings and a slightly larger radiator

It does raise a good point. The biggest criticism of the Bandit (from those who spent a lot more ) is that it has 'cheap suspension'. Did Suzuki actually put a heavier spring (and different valves?) in the FA, not because it needed it, but because they were responding to criticism of the GSF's front, soft, suspension? Or am I just being optomistic?

Seems to be. Mine ( a GSX1250FA) says same thing "GSF1250S". Wouldn't read too much into that though. The compliance plate on my Bavarian F650Gs actually says its an "F800". It depends on what model evidence the manufacturer or importer has put through to the Feds for the ADR compliance.
Same ADRs will apply across the model range regardless of minor tech specification differences. In other words, I wouldn't necessarily put my faith in the compliance plate when ordering parts.
Bill.

My hubby rode my new GSX1250FA for its first 1,ooo Ks and his only gripes were surging on a constant/feathered throttle and the suspension that seemed over-sprung or possibly under dampened. He wound the front pre-load right out which improved it, but still felt it needed softer springs. He is 75 kilos and I didn't ride pillion.

I think it's the dog bone that's different. I fitted a Holeshot (Cogent) rear shock and had to modify the end U mount slightly to allow it to fit. Other than that it works a treat.

goooggggglinnng
Suzuki's website does not have a fully fared GSF image nor a semi or naked GSX.
it seems to me that the gsf range is either naked or semi fared. the gsx is fully fared. seat is higher too based on specs.
from looking at my gsf (and it says gsf on compliance plate) it looks the same as gsx from online pics etc except for faring. guages are the same, layout etc.
sounds like marketing.

Re: GSX 1250FA & GSF 1250FA is there really a difference when searching on E Bay??
The GSX1250FA has the GSXR fairing and has different gauges, a gear indicator, slightly heaver fork springs, a larger radiator with twin fans and is otherwise a Bandit.
The Bandits did come out in some markets with a lower fairing and were marketed in NZ as the "touring" model (GSF1250SATK8), in the UK as the "GT" and in Canada as the SEA.
The later model naked Bandits in some markets wore the instruments from the GSX1250FA.
Much the same bike other than the fairing and luggage and pipes/seats etc will fit almost all models
