Spare Key.
When I bought the Bandit ( Rosie ), she came with only one key. The previous owner said he did have another, but forgot where he had put it, and if he came across it then he would forward it on to me. Well I don't think that is going to happen so while I was out today I thought I would get one cut. Not so easy. No blanks the same. Try a dealership. Rang Springwood Suzuki. Yes, we have blanks. $30. What I said. I dont want the whole ignition . Found a locksmith that is nearby who can do one for $25 all up. Not so bad.

That's quite typical for a manufacturer. Ford want $30 for the blank, they can't cut it so you have to take the blank somewhere else to have that done. Then you take it back to Ford for reprogramming. They want iirc $100+ for that.Hammy wrote:When I bought the Bandit ( Rosie ), she came with only one key. And a mate of mine lost his only key to a German made Barina. No one could fix it at his house so it had to be towed to Holden. All up including the tow, just under $1000

I bought a blank Busa Key of e-bay for 2.40 nz dollars landed and got it cut for $10. Looks kinda cool as it has a blue head bit with the S logo on it. Ok I'm a tight arse with three keys

Re: Spare Key.
I didn't have any of that trouble. Went to Class Locksmiths in Fyshwick, gave them the key, they cut a duplicate, I paid $6.50, tried it in the bike, yep, works fine, then left. Must have taken less than 5 minutes. That is the beauty of 'dumb' keys that have no chip in them, they are essentially the same as getting a second front door key cut. I think some dealers like to peddle the line that the Bandit key has a chip so you'll pay a fortune for nothing.
