GEL SEAT - GENUINE SUZUKI
First topic message reminder :
I just got my new genuine suzuki Gel Seat. I got it from Ebay USA and yes it did cost a lot. I was happy though when I received it as I was only really expecting the front seat, the ebay ads only showed the front. Anyway it came after only a two or three weeks wait .. and lo & behold it came with front & rear gel seats (can’t be unhappy with that).
So, what to do .. rain has grounded me for a couple of weeks .. today was overcast but not wet, good temperature .. a new gel seat … gotta try it out.
I decided to return to the FEB ride that rain rudely interrupted last Sunday and took advantage of the toll free M4 (or should that now be the F4 ?) and headed for Warragamba, which was my first stop .. usually (pre gel) when I get off the bike I walked around like a drug importer with a kilo of coke up my arse, but I found it to be quite the opposite … happy so far.
Went toward Picton with a little side track to Burragarang, still my arse is pleasantly unsore, pre gel I always had to stand up while riding to let the blood back into my bum, now the only reason I do that is to fart.
Next stop was Bulli Pass .. why is it that a B-double always ends up right in front of you when you don’t need that .. I waited at the top of the pass for it to get down before I headed down, still not that sore. Next stop was Bald Hill, still not sore, then I went from Bald Hill through the Royal NP all the way home to Concord .. now I could never do that pre gel, I always had to alight at Audley.
So I can say that I’m quite happy with the gel seat. I think it’s the seat that always should have come standard with the bike.

Umm...
I use an airhawk and a lambswool cover for myself and pillion and butt pain ( for want of a better term) is a thing of the past. I dont mean it's better, I mean it's gone. 6000 ks in 10 days and no pain. 2 1200k days and no pain. May not work the same for you but it's great for us.
I am about an inch higher but I dont care as this straightens my legs a bit more.
Airhawks are money well spent, they don't look pretty though.
Most seatcover manufacturers will make a lambswool cover a little larger to accommodate airhawks if you ask.

Gel Seat
Bought a gel seat on Ebay and fitted it yesterday. Out for about 4 hours today and much more comfortable than the stock seat

Re: GEL SEAT - GENUINE SUZUKI
I too have the gel seat and it's great. The US forums all say how hot they get (and stay hot) in the sun. I have forgotten what sun looks like here, so can't confirm or deny...
EBay is great. I contacted my local dealer to see how much and was quoted $1100 (yes, eleven hundred Kiwi dollars), with a several week shipping time. I scored an as new one from the US for US$187 with $65 postage, and it took 10 days to arrive. (and it already had all of the parts on it). I want to support local dealers, but this was ridiculous.

Re: GEL SEAT - GENUINE SUZUKI
actually no. I'm using a seargent seat and with that I find I need a airhawk. The gel seat I was sliding forward far too easily, I had it recovered and I was never happy with the new basket weave .. and the seat was heavy.

Re: GEL SEAT - GENUINE SUZUKI
Well I'm as happy as a pig in poo.
I was alerted to a Genuine Suzuki Gel Seat, 3 months old, used a few times and described as 'in new condition'. I place a bid on Trademe and won the seat for $162.00nz. Pick it up on Sunday and parts of me will be a lot happier...
Will post up some pics when fitted.
